Traditionals and Cast Iron Cookware

Braising some lamb tonight with a couple of newbs.
Forum knife isn't new, but the bail is.;)

Took this pic last week when the wife made some cornbread. Cast iron skillet that she picked out at the Lodge store next to the big knife store in the Smokey Mountains as we traveled thru there over Thanksgiving week. I made up a few leather skillet handle slips for her for Christmas, this is one of them in the pic. The knife is a Voos Jack gifted to me by a friend here on the forum.

That slip really highlights the beautiful knife, you have done a great job there, and there is a market for them, just an idea.:).

Ok cudgee... What's a shrove?
Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Day. A shrove is not a thing, i have to be careful here, forum rules are to keep religion out of the forum, so i will keep it basic. Shrove means asking for the forgiveness of sins, so historically, Shrove Tuesday is the day before Lent starts. So people went to confession then feasted on Shrove Tuesday before fasting for Lent which starts on the Wednesday-Ash Wednesday, so pancakes were the last sweet treats you would have before Easter Sunday. Hope this helps, don't want to upset anyone bringing up religion. Many years ago it became known as Pancake Tuesday for people who just liked the idea of having pancakes or flap jacks as you would know them, but were not religious.

Gotcha... Thanks for the clarification. I thought that looked like a pancake, but wasn't sure. :p

That's an excellent picture. I'm going to stray off topic here... What did you do to make the bail for your forum knife?

It's a small sized bail I picked up from Collector Knives at the same time I ordered the 97 coke bottle.
It took a couple of attempts to get the crimp just right so it only rotates 45 degrees or so to keep it out of the way when closing the blade.
Not a necessary modification but I like bails for a few reasons.

Last night I cooked some Kitchen Omelettes for dinner (Kitchen Omelettes are cooked with whatever you have leftover in the kitchen from previous meals and that needs using up!). Had my Case 5318 in my pocket - been my most carried Case 18 pattern over the last couple of weeks. OH

Good example of a well seasoned non-stick cast iron pan. And the omelette looks good too.:p:p:p:thumbsup:.
