TRASH1 ON THE SYKCO net

Dangit all, now I might need to order another to strip down.... Anyways-

I'm glad to see that the first place people look to for competition in 1095 is from Rowen's ESEE, but I may be a bit of a fanboy. I don't think KaBar's treatment of it is a slouch at all though, I love me some Beckers too. I'll be very interested to see how the TRASH compares with the 5, I think those are really valid comparisons. I'd throw the BK-2 in the mix for sure though. Much different price points obviously, but the knife blade is obviously not the entirety of the production cost.

From one of the most grand high poohbahs of ESEE, this is what Mr. Sir Jeff Randall had to say when the topic got brought up on the ESEE forum-
"Busse will do a good job on their 1095. It will be good stuff."

I get a bit misty when competing people get along. Shows a lot of class.

Jeff always speaks very highly of the Busse and kin on his forum when you make a good product its easy to see and acknowledge other good products.

Ain't picked up a Dog in a while but this one is too good to pass up! I grabbed 2.

Yes I too saw Jeff's post (and I too am a fan of ESEE). ESEE and Busse(&kin) blades are all I recommend to people.
I also don't have a problem recommending Becker, especially having had the pleasure of meeting Ethan at a SHOT Show a few years ago and speaking to him at length. One of the nicest people you'd ever care to meet, he is.

You're certainly not alone Brother!..............................................................:D

Did any of you check out that thread in the Becker subforum about this knife? They kinda "flipped the f*** out", and that's putting it mildly.

You know, even though I could have about a million Ford Pintos for the same price, I'd still rather have a Ferrari. Go figure.

Hard concept to understand for some people I guess...

^--- Doesn't really surprise me AntDog... Beckerheads love their Becker's like we love our Busse and Kin, and someone posting about a new Yard knife in their forum is bound to ruffle some feathers.

Do Becker and ESEE make some great hard use knives? Yes, yes they do!!
Do I love them the way I LOVE Busse & Kin knives? No, no I don't!!!  :D

To each their own. More Busse & Kin for US!!! OINK!!! :pig:

Instead of being able to have a grown up conversation about the whole thing, they started by hurling insults, then went off the rails, then collectively took their ball and went home. Locked the thread. Then opened it back up, posted a few parting shots, then closed it again!

It was just silly. And yes, more for us is a good thing. No regrets! :D

The great thing about Busse/kin, is that not only are you getting the absolute best and toughest knives on the planet,, but the people who love(abuse) them are some of the coolest, down to earth, and friendly out there.
I wandered onto another manufacturers forum, looking for a pretty simple answer, and got a bunch of smart a#$ remarks and attitude. I thougt to myself "well, that money is now going to be saved towards a Busse"

you seem particularly affected by this, so i'll respond to you here.

my personal apologies for any offense. we have a "style" in that sub-forum that works well for us. one part of that is razzing people who come in "off topic" (we're Becker through and through). doesn't really matter what that is. i myself am more than a little defensive of "our boss" this week due to his surgery, so, my esp snarky style was a bit amped up. sorry about that. really!

the boss himself, Ethan Becker is doing stellar from his surgery i will add. nicest, bestest, most gentlemanly person i know anywhere. many careers, many fine products, 4 generations of his knives, few complaints, best warranty ever. good stuff...

that said, we're usually a fun bunch. there are rules though (nobody reads them). probably should have immediately moved the post to General and been done with it, but it went a direction that seemed fun for a bit. then probably not a great one (with posts being edited to change tone).

we had a lot of people who are not regular posters, and again, our style conflicts when people have other expectations... we're a tight bunch, like you all, and we have our ways. other sub forums are infamous for that as well.

as for taking the ball and all that, the boss shut it down. his forum. his rules. he wasn't willing to let it run the downward spiral which invariably occurs with comparisons and antics.

any subsequent posts were made by mods with posts in progress, or something to say. the post was never reopened/etc - hardly parting shots - the last post is by Guyon which many of y'all should know and love.

i am tempted to delete the entire thing, or move it to the cornfield, but for now, it will stand as my regret.

Ethan is, without a doubt, one great guy. Sure glad to hear, he is doing good after surgery.

Met him at Blade this year, and had several great conversations with him.

Too bad that thread on the Becker forum went sour. The written word does often get misinterpreted, which I believe was the case here.

best warranty ever..

Think I'm going to say that this is highly doubtful, and likely I will be finding out...Not because I want a Becker (I do not at all desire one), but because several people seem interested in some comparisons between the Trash1, Esee, Becker, Ontario, ect......IMHO the Trash1 is the only knife in recent Busse/Kin history that these others companies can begin to compare to, although I have seen many fanboys really try hard to fight back with you can get 10 of mine for the price of 1 Busse which I find highly laughable, I generally only carry one large fixed when I hike or hunt not 10..Should things turn bad due to unforseen circumstances then I want the absolute best available, however unlikely the situation is no Becker, KaBar, Ontario, Tops, ESEE, Cold Steel, or other brand X company has the proven history of Busse Combat for hard use/abuse...

I've read in that same locked thread that Busse only offers a small performance advantage, also highly laughable....None of the people making these statements have offered up a shred of proof with their own personal blades doing hard abuse, yet Busse has many non scientific regular Joe's abusing their knives. Had anyone actually put up some hard use/abuse proof and had a failure or damage I am certain Ethan/Becker/KaBar/Cutco/EK would not cover with the warranty...I do however think Jerry would cover for any damage to a Busse...to date I have heard of zero warranty claims from Busse that were denied...in fact I do believe the warranty for Busse clearly states that you can use/abuse any Busse Combat all you want. Others warranties even 100%'ers still seem to be conditional even ESEE who does not cover handles....hmm...

Why has no company or maker decided to take up the Busse challenge, not one to date has decided to do the same tests Busse does, not even Cold Steel who's ad slogan is "World's Toughest Sharpest knives"... From what I have seen everyone trashed on Noss and Cliff for pushing knives to the limits and warranties, and IMO Busse is king of the jungle....call them idiots for their methods so step down to a less extreme tester and you have Nut-n-Fancy who has reviewed several Busse/Kin and all have passed with flying colors or am I missing something? This whole Busse vs the world thing has been beaten like a dead horse, and some seriously mis-lead individuals will swear thier sub $100 knives can take on the most well documented hard use knives on the planet.....while I can certainly attest that Becker's, Top's, ESEE makes some good quality and high value knives they are not and never will be equal to Busse Combat in brute strength the metal and HT protocol on the competition just does not add up....this is a universal and proven fact. Whatever 1095 comes out of the Busse/Kin shop will for sure beast all the competition.

Let me also say the I am not a Busse fanboy because I just bought Busse and because they are Busse and I own them that makes them best, I am devoted to Busse because I bought the competition for years and was not 100% satisfied...I never felt fully satisfied with any fixed blade until I held and used a Busse...No amount of videos, reviews, or pics could convince me of that until my own two hands proved it....Is there better out than a Busse???? Maybe but I have yet to see it proven or anything that even remotely begins to motivate me to believe so...

Best of luck to you all, my rant is over.

I hope I made it clear that I wasn't looking to start an argument, I consider Becker and ESEE the 'go to' 1095 distributors at the moment and ESEE doesn't have a forum here anymore so it seemed appropriate for the Becker forum rather than general. Not so much for competition as for comparison. The main difference I see is the TRASH-1 is projected to be a bit harder on the RC scale, we'll see how that pans out. I even posted proof positive that the three can in fact coexist in harmony.:D

None of them talking smack or anything.

Personally, I don't own an INFI ASH-1, but I'm waiting on a BG ASH-1 and a TRASH-1 and I will have a blast using them next to a BK12 and ESEE 5. And probably a BK2 and ESEE 6. I'm pretty sure the results aren't going to leave me hurling insults at any of the companies involved. Good companies and good people all around, I've no inclination to bash any of them.

Hey we all love knives. Some are more passionate about it than others no worries and no regrets lets drink!

Thanks
