I've never had a Griptilian before but I've got one of these on order and from what I understand and read is that they have the same liner as before which isn't actually a full liner. Just my opinion but it would make sense that you would have something for the screws to anchor to other than g10.
 
Just ordered the 556-BK1 and 551-BK1 directly from Benchmade, will get it next week. I'm looking forward to see what these black coated blade look like with the new G10 scales since it's not yet released to dealers and they have no pictures available >:)

The screws anchor into stainless pivot pin-style sleeves that run through the standoffs. It's fairly ruggedly constructed, though the steel liners are the same partial liners used in the original Grips.
 
This may have already been answered but is there a expected release date of the new 550HG-1? That's the one I'm not so patiently waiting on.
 
Ok finally got it in the mail today, first impressions are just as expected. Love the way this knife feels. What I wasn't expecting was to get a first production 981 of 1000, cool it's still going in my pocket.

First knife to make me actually consider changing my EDC from the small sebbie. Still have not handeled one yet, none of the small grips that is. Maybe I should go for a standard one to start with...

Start with the mini, and you will never look back :D

JK... There are many people that like the full size, but don't care for the mini. I'm the other way around.

Look what I found yesterday. Found at a small shop in nh and I was surprised to find a first run. My first impressions are very good. I have owned a bunch of benchmades and they seem to have raised their game in several areas. The fit and finish is amazing, and you can feel the quality. The blade locks up solid with no blade play whatsoever, something I'm not used to with my benchmades. The edge grind is very even and someone took their time on it. It's razor sharp. It feels higher quality than anything from them I have owned yet. Very impressed, this is going to be a great edc.

Been out of the knife game for a while because I was happy with my collection but once I saw they finally made a G10 mini-grip with a premium steel I was all over it. This has been a dream EDC of mine for a long time, I have always liked the mini but wasn't a fan of the plastic handles.


Pre-ordered a 556-1 from Knifeworks.... anyone have ideas about a ship date?
 
They put a 550-1 out with the spydie hole soon and I will have to succumb to that. That will be a EDC game changer for me anyway.

There are already some floating around, Have been for a few weeks or so. Hard to guess a ship date because each dealer is different

Thanks man! I noticed a few in this thread so I figured it can't be too long.

Either way, I am so excited for this knife! I have wanted a G10 mini-grip for a long time.
