WE Knives? Another high end Chinese company?

Those WE 702 titanium frame lock bearings flippers are very nice with a 3.9" blade of M390 and weighing 5 ounces for under $300. This sleek model with its narrow profile begs to have a model with a 3" blade which would bring the weight down to under 4 ounces as well. Of course, get rid of the proprietary screws and go with standard torx screws.

I ordered one this morning after I saw it was an integral. Now the horrible waiting period.

I'd love a 3" slender blade WE!

Please let us know what you think of the WE 702 integral flipper. For its size it's pretty/slim and light so it should carry very well. Curious on your thoughts regarding the proprietary star screws.

In many ways, it's big and slim like the big ZT 0452CF and Begg Kwaiken.

WE 605 and 619 have 3" inches or less blades but they're just too bluky. Also, a blade thickness of 0.12" would be better. Keep the weight under 4 ounces and drop the proprietary screws.

I love the 702 but I can't get past the gold hardware. I wish at least the clip matched the frame like on my 608, 614 and 618.

I honestly don't care about proprietary hardware. In we's case they give a tool for adjustments. And in most cases I can either buy or make a custom tool as I have many times. I think the whining about proprietary hardware is sorta overplayed. 99% of the time I only need the bit once to dial in the knife the way I like and it never gets touched again.

I didn't write here for a long period due to very busy work and very, very limited access to internet. (No, i was not in jail :-))
So i didn't had the chance to keep up. But soon i will try to post some interesting news again of new models like the new 70x models (f.e. right now i have the 704, 705, 706, 707, a new prototype which has not a number yet)

But before that, i was asked by WE if i would feel to open a forum here on BF for WE. So i started in november last year to try to speak with the forum leaders. Since i posted a message every month. And never got an answer. Can you guys help me who to contact about the possibilities to start a sponsored WE forum on BF?

Hi, welcome back. I'm looking forward to the scoop on some new WE knives!

In terms of setting up a WE sub-forum, I think all those requests have to go through Spark and he tends to be very busy. You might try to message him directly through the forums? I know when they were working on a Kizer sub-forum it took a while to get everything lined out.

I'd love a WE sub-forum. Let's make it happen!

If i remember correctly a knife brand only gets a subforum if the actual company or representative of that company wants one and will moderate. Otherwise its gkd. I may be wrong but i thought that is how it works.

The Benchmade forum is moderated by user Benchmade who last posted in March 2015 and basically absent.

The EmersonREP moderator of the Emerson forum is/was not an employee of Emerson Knives.

In this case the company asked me to do this for them...so on behalf of the company. And since a little while i am doing the service & warranty for the company in Europe.

I never warmed up to my 605. I still have it, but it's my least favorite WE. I never had any issues with its thickness in hand or in pocket, and I won't carry many Spydies due to pocket fat. It flips "ok" but not as good as any other WE that I have (601, 604, 615, 616). The handle choils are very pronounced and just don't fit my hand very well, but that's entirely personal. The detent is almost too strong and "catchy", but that might have broken in with more use. The knife feels a little out of balance to me; the handle almost too light and the blade too heavy.

Here's the thing though...most of my reasons are personal taste and preference. This knife might work great for you. If you purchase, maybe buy from a seller that will let you return it?
any interest in selling?

Got my 702 integral. Insanely nice knife. Under any other brand it would be $500 easily. All ready took it apart to see what makes it tick and it really has an interesting construction. I was curious if it was going to ride on bare titanium but they have hardened steel washers for the bearings surfaces. Definitely a keeper. And when compared to other integrals its an amazing deal. The ergos are also spectacular. One of the most comfortable knives I have owned as it really reminds me of a modern kitchen knife. Keeper. The only way it could be better is if it had purple hardware. :D

Congrats. Great price for a great integral flipper. Too large for what I carry.

They did have purple hardware on a previous 604S model.

I had the opportunity to handle both the Benchmade new integral and the 702 the same time. And what a difference in quality and fit & finish. Being the 702 perfect and the BM was not centered, had side to side and lacked fit and finish. And that one will cost more as the 702.

Yeah its awesome. Mine has a slightly weird thing about it and that the whole blade sits slighttly closer to the non lock side which you can only tell when closed and viewing it from behind as you can see the flipper has more stop pin exposed on the lock side. But i have to think this was intentional as when viewing blade centering from the front its perfect. And ive noticed it in a couple pictures of other examples. Im incredibly ocd with my knives and i have no doubt no one else would have noticed. My only other gripe was that mine had a very weak detent but i mean to fix that. Now i have the urge to sell the rest of my collection as i feat not many will get used now.

Ive seen tons of different purple hardware we knives. Came close to getting one but never did. The integral was too awesome to pass up though. I did contact we to see if they would sell me some compatible purple hardware but i have not heard anything back yet.
