WE Knives? Another high end Chinese company?

Ive seen tons of different purple hardware we knives. Came close to getting one but never did. The integral was too awesome to pass up though. I did contact we to see if they would sell me some compatible purple hardware but i have not heard anything back yet.

I think you should contact the new service/warranty contact in the USA (if you are living in the USA): In the USA: service_usa@weknife.com (Teryl from the USA)

Did you bend the lock bar a little to get a stronger detent?

Yes. But it wont be easy. I will have to stack guitar picks in the handle at the point the lockbar is bent. Otherwise it wont yield the metal.

EDITED: I hadn't done the repair and used wrong wording.

The WE 705 is also very nice with a 3.6" modified sheepsfoot blade. It's bigger than I'd carry but at $249 you get a ceramic bearings flipper, titanium clip and M390. Weighs only 4.2 ounces!

I think the 705 is my favorite WE to date. I'd like to hear some feedback if anyone gets one.

Tomorrow my upload with my first impressions on the 705 will be active on Youtube. I have got it in home for a little longer as 2 weeks now and it is a very nice knife.

Just love that blade profile on the 703 Pop!!! Nice sleek design!

I love it. The detent is light in comparison to the ZT but the 703 is sooooo smooth on ceramic bearings. The 703 with a stainless steel blade would be amazing. I like d2, but I live at the beach so I have to watch it

I just got a 703D and it is by far the best knife I've had in the $100 price range. It definitely made a believer out of me. I'm hoping they come out with some cool new stuff this year because I'm a WE fan now.

Sorry Scotty, i don't agree with you. At least the 617 is as good :-)

The harpoon is cool but I'm a drop point guy.

I do like that they took a drop point and made it cool by adding a swedge. Nice detail to it. The ti knives are tempting but for now I'm enjoying the G10 budget models.

Anyone else wondering about the design choices on the WE 618? Great knife, but it's impossible to open. Detent is super strong, and the way you have to hold it pushes on the lockbar digging the detant ball in deeper. Couple that with the star shaped thumb stud, and it's hard to open and cuts your thumb open (I was literally bleeding). Anyone know of any mods to lessen the detent? I'm debating on dremeling off the star shape.

Nice looking folder. Perhaps the overall narrow width has something to do with your situation where possibly too much pressure is on the lock bar. It looks like the clip is not on the lock bar so try opening the folder by placing your pinkie, ring and middle finger on the clip and away from the lock bar.

That's the only possible way to open it, and it's still super strong, but openable. I'm always worried about slipping and cutting my finger doing it that way though. $300 knife shouldn't be this unwieldy to open.

Try a drop of heavy oil or grease on the detent ball.

Also, Hekh mentioned WE service in the U.S.: service_usa@weknife.com (Teryl from the USA).

I would try to break it in for a few days. If it doesn't soften up, send it in. If you bought it new you can also return it.

My 618 is one of the easiest to open knives I've ever used. Your example either has a super strong detent or you're pushing on the lockbar. The star shape gives you great traction, but don't push down on top of it. Try putting the meat of your thumb behind the stud and pushing forward, not out, similar to a Sebenza. Also, I grab the edge of the clip with my fingertips, that gives me leverage as I open the knife.

It is a ridiculously strong detent, I've tried every method known to man but it requires a lot of force to open, more force than any of the other 150-ish knives I've owned.
