WE Knives? Another high end Chinese company?

The WE 705 is also very nice with a 3.6" modified sheepsfoot blade. It's bigger than I'd carry but at $249 you get a ceramic bearings flipper, titanium clip and M390. Weighs only 4.2 ounces!

Oh, man...I REALLY like that one.:cool:

Nice looking folder. Perhaps the overall narrow width has something to do with your situation where possibly too much pressure is on the lock bar. It looks like the clip is not on the lock bar so try opening the folder by placing your pinkie, ring and middle finger on the clip and away from the lock bar.

Exactly the way i do it. No problem here.

Got my 701E in the mail last week and I must say, I am in love. I am not a big fan of liner lock knives, but this one is really growing on me. I am hoping WE comes out with maybe some half G-10, half titanium, to still keep the price low.

My 618 is one of the easiest to open knives I've ever used. Your example either has a super strong detent or you're pushing on the lockbar. The star shape gives you great traction, but don't push down on top of it. Try putting the meat of your thumb behind the stud and pushing forward, not out, similar to a Sebenza. Also, I grab the edge of the clip with my fingertips, that gives me leverage as I open the knife.

My Fantoni HB02 needs you to place your thumb under the thumb stud (at 6 o'clock) and push straight up to open it. If you try to go sideways it requires a lot more force.

Well even though I had previously reported that I had fixed my 702 that was a bit premature as I was making that post right before I was about to do said operation. But further inspection showed that It wouldn't solve my issue. So I ended up ordering a different example from a different dealer (thanks GPknives!) and its perfect. I don't know why. But when I buy from this one dealer I always get something that seems to be buggered up or messed with in some way. But when I buy from GPknives the stuff is always, and I mean always on point as if they inspect every knife they sell. Not sure if its a fluke but now I'm really really happy with the 702. The first was well, embarrassing.

Seems like some dealers not only refuse to inspect prior to shipping but even recycle returns.

I dont doubt it. In fact im pretty damn sure you are right. I have no idea what happened with this one. But i do know that this particular dealer i have sent knives back that by no means whatsoever should they be resold. And when i send it back they mysteriously have a single specimen for sale the day or day after they accept my return. In one case i even saw someone buy that knife and complain about it online and the serial number didnt lie. Pretty sad actually. I realize everyone has a different opinion on what is and isnt defective. But in some rare cases there is no question.

Tomorrow my upload with my first impressions on the 705 will be active on Youtube. I have got it in home for a little longer as 2 weeks now and it is a very nice knife.

Henkh,

I checked out your video of the 705. There's a lot to like about the 705 and I could forgive the proprietary screws but the moderate flipper action is a deal breaker.

I wonder if your sample was kind of like PurpleDC's first 702 sample and eventually he got a good one.

I don't think you have to worry about the action. Maybe due to my Englsih the nuance was lost, but i tried to demonstrate that despite the moderate detent the action really was pretty good. That it was very hard to let it fail flipping. When almost no pressure at all with lightning switch it is possible to let it fail. But with just moderate pressure it always flips.

Another reason: because i get the samples sent in before the actual production takes place, the actual production samples get additional fine tuning before they are shipped to the resellers.

What i find interesting is that even though my first 702 had virtually no detent you could still flip it out despite that with very little effort. Still my keeper 702 continues to impress. I dropped the thing three feet and the tip hit a steel pipe. Very little damage. The edge did get a little jacked up but it was so minor it sharpened out on a ceramic rod.

Some news:
The 704 & 704CF and the 708 (karambit) are available for the dealers now. As well as a new batch of Spinners which sold out very fast after introduction.

Video of the 704 is active now on my channel. This is a very slick, sleek, gentleman's type of folding knife but with the available colors also suitable for women who like slightly longer blades.

The 704CFA is gonna be my next purchase. That is a great looking knife. I have a feeling WE is my new love interest. :triumphant:

Those slim 704CF look great with a 3.6" FFG blade of M390 weighing just 2.87 ounces! I figure around $250?

Couldn't tell if the titanium frame lock had a steel lock bar insert? If not, has the lock face been hardened?

@Ramzar: it has a steel insert and the streetprice for the CF model will be around $260,-. MSRP will be around $290,-.
