Week-end Post, What Are You Doing

Jacob,

Good luck with you Mom's surgery, and good luck to you getting all that work done. As you're only in your 20's it should be a piece of cake as far as energy levels :D. The track light looks cool dude ;)

Well I still have a lot of scrap to haul and I still have all the vinyl tile in this house to rip up. Its room to room tile. Some was here since the house was built in the late 70's. I will only have my aunt here to help and she is just going to be on the heat gun. I also have another vanity to install, 2 mirrors, 2 medicine cabinets, pull both toilets when I rip up the tile and solder the brass flanges back to the lead stubs, and about 20 other things go do. I'm basically doing everything but all the painting in this house. I also have to hang drywall and tape and float it after the electrician is done in a room that is 12x47'. Someone feel like helping me out for a case or two of beer and home cooking and some BBQ? :D

my weekend started this morning with my 37th birthday!

So, with the break in the weather and not being up in the mountains, what I've done all day is..... knifework.

I've started my own 1084 1.5 inch stock "I'm not going to ashokan" short sword, a small fighter, and finishing up an osage orange handled sierra patch hiker....

of course, now my son (all of 4) is insisting we do Something For Da's Birthday.....

While everyone else is at Ashokan, i'll be at the patriots v chargers game >_<

Hope to finish this 2nd sgian dubh i started tomorrow evening and saturday morning before the sox vs yankees games.

For the last two days, I been working like a Dog out in the shop. Been working on about 6 knives. Its been a hard time out there today. Sunday will be my day off and I am happy about that. What are you all doing this weekend. ---

home again!

The building is framed up nice, I'm leaving the bossman and two other guys for a week while they do the loft floor framing, then back up october 1st for the roof trusses, sheathing, and then the straw bales....

weather is changing, I need to cut a hole in the porch roof for the woodstove stack, plug all the other holes, put up some plastic, re roof my mostly open workshop....

grabbed a pair of blowers for $3 at a garage sale, so I can get the real charcoal forge going soon, and I have the sword, fighting knife, another sierra hiker, and who knows what else to finish.

and I owe my son some dirt time, which is the main reason I'm taking the week off.

Well we will be bringing my mom home this weekend some time. She had her L5 and S1 vertebrae fused together Wednesday and today they had her walking and sitting up. I am waiting on my order from backwater bowfishing to come in (should be tomorrow). I also have to sit around and do nothing but help out around here because my rear diff for my Subaru won't be in until Thursday of next week. Hope to get some bowfishing in sometime next week. I need to show yall some pics of my bow setup. I have come a good ways since I first started. I hope to get started on the bowfishing knife prototype within the next month. Still need to order the cork. I can't wait for the Medina Lake Bowfishing Tournament on October 13th. My order which should be here tomorrow has everything I need but an extra bow string to gear up for the tournament.

Kook dropped off a 1/2 bushel of Scotch Bonnet peppers, gotta drop them off at IG's.

I've also got to finish off a neck knife for a customer (my first).

I was going to take Miss Harley out but it raining :grumpy:
I don't mind getting wet but I don't want the bike to get crapy :D

Well since I won't be able to post this next weekend cause I will be busy I will post it now. Next Saturday I will be shooting with a buddy of mine at the Canyon Lake Bowfishing Tournament. Tournament is from 6pm to 6am. Friday I will be getting use to my new reel and such. Just finished gearing up for the tournament. I'll post pics of what we get at the tournament. It should be a great one too.

This week-end still in the shop working on the 6 knives order's. Big job and no time for play. I may get one by Sunday if I work like a dog. How about all you great knife maker's?

Well, my better half and I are heading out in about 1/2 hour to an old friends Birthday party.

Tomorrow, early in the morning, I'm gonna switch my cycle back to a point ignition, as I've had it with the Crane HI4 electronic system (worked fine for 5 years), then I'll get my semi-annual haircut, after that I'm off to IG's to pick up a large quantity of Heat Treat Relish, yum yum. Hopefully I'll be doing the running around on my bike

Sunday, I've got to finish up a neck knife for my first customer :D which I will deliver on Monday.

That's about it

last weekend I attended the New England Blacksmith's fall meet in willimantic CT. Ran into Louis T. there

This comming up weekend i'm driving up to brentwood NH for the NEB Tailgating/tool sale saturday morning, then if i get home early enough saturday going to try to get a few blades forged out on my new coal setup, and get used to tending a coal fire and dealing with clinker and stuff. If i dont get around to blades i at least want to get /some/ forging done this weekend.

Sunday I need to mow the lawn for the last time this year ( i hope) and then hopefully have some more time to forge stuff .

Hey, hey, hey!!!!! Starting to get back into groove.:eek: Have two newbies coming over tomorrow and two regulars:confused:. Starting them off with the cable damascus.
One of the newbies is the X-Ray Technician that took pic's of my hand after the dog bite and the other is 18 years old body builder.:D

Hey! Good to see you getting back into the swing of things IG, I was thinking about giving you a ring this week to see how things were going because you've been quiet as of late on the boards... 'cept I lost your number !

Tomorrow i've got to drive out to Shutesbury north of springfield in the morning (selling my big cone mandrel to pay for other tools, cone as seen in http://www.tharkis.com/images/coal.jpg )

It's been almost a year since the first time I was at your place george, and made that cable damascus billet there. I still havent shown you the knife I made with it! If you're going to be around in the afternoon, I might be able to swing by around 12:30ish to 1, assuming I get out from springfield area in a timely fashion.

Sunday I havent a clue what I'm doing, but I really hope to get some good forging time in.

Justin, deliver the mandrel on Sunday and come here early on Saturday;)and if anyone else is looking for something to do come on down.
BBBB Beaver if you read this, tell Kook there is all kinds of nuts on the ground in the backyard, if he wants them.:confused:

I'll see if it's possible to deliver it on sunday, but it's hard because the guy i'm taking it to works nights and works weekends, this was the first day in 3 weeks that he was able to be around when I was able to drive out there >_<

If all else fails I can try to get out there for delivery extra early and get back and down to your place earlier, since I doubt sunday would work, and I could really use the money from selling the mandrel. (as nice as it would be to just keep the mandrel in my shop, it's the least used tool in my shop and I'm going to use the money towards a power hammer)
