November 30,2007
I just got a order for one of my City Slicker in Blue bone. So I will be working on two one for the order and one for down the road. I also been getting wood in for the stove. I been running it alot. The gas man let me know that gas heat is going up. Here it been about 20's at night and some day in the 30's to 40's. Me and the wife been outside working on the Christmas Light for the house. That's a big job by its self. What you all doing this cool week-end.:D:jerkit::)

i have orders in for 2 camp/kitchen/hikers in a new design, 2 8 inch chef's blades, need to finish the buff and mail the xmas knife, got orders for "if they turn out" for 3 veggie cleaver type blades -

and howiesatwork sent me home from san jose yesterday with a nice big baldor motor, so I need to get the table for that and the coote built.

This weekend i'm going to finish the finish on the handle for my exchange knife, and if my smaller size stencil arrives, i'll get my exchange knife mailed out this weekend !

Saturday, big priority,,,tune up tractor (12.5 HP B & S) take the mowing deck off and put on the 42" snowthrower, gotta do that it's that time of the year and snow will be here soon.

Gotta meet some friends for dinner/birthday get together. I made a damascus neck knife for her Bday, and will present it to her then.

Sunday, gotta do some house work :grumpy:, though I'd rather hammer a piece of twisted damascus, Kook and I made into a couple of neck knives :D.

Well I'll be taking my outboard and boat out for their maiden voyage. I finally got the outboard finished. Still can't work on the bowfishing knife yet because we got a guy who wants to close by Dec 28th. So its start packing things up and find a new house. Here is a list of all the things I did on this outboard. All the gaskets I had to order from WI or MI.

Rebuild the carburetor
Replace the head gasket
Spark Plug
Fuel Lines
Clean out integral gas tank
Replace the gaskets in the lower unit
Tighten the water tube thats in the lower unit
Have the clutch welded solid since the collar broke and there is no replacement for it so now it is in drive permanently
Checked the impeller and clean out the gunk in the lower section
Cleaned out the prop gear box and replaced the gasket for it and filled it with fresh gear oil
And last but not least replaced the T-handle for the pull string

The welding was done by a guy who does offroad lift kits for a living. Everything else I did with no help from anyone. I'll get some pics posted of the boat and motor when I get back tomorrow.

Going hunting again down in South Texas. Going for a turkey and a couple of hogs. Also going to do a little bass fishing while I'm there so that I have something to throw on the pit.

Fresh out:( Got to make a packy run today.:D;)

This weekend I'm putting up the Christmas trees. Yes, I said Christmas trees. We put one in the formal living room, so that it looks nice from the street. However, we don't spend much time in that room, so we also put one up in our family room. Since that and all of the other decorating is done, I now have some free time for the shop. I'm going to make the sheath for my Xmas Gift Knife Exchange knife, so that I can ship it off tomorrow or Tuesday. On Friday, I ground out 6 knives I had forged about a month ago. I have about 10 left to grind and then will do a heat treat day. I have 5 knives that are hardened and tempered and finish ground that are ready for guards and handles. I hope to have all 20 or so done by New Years. These are for the show in Eugene in April.

Boy the weeks are flying by and its almost Christmas. Today I need to go to the doctor and get some test. Then I will be back in the shop working.

I started the two knives and got the heat treat and temping out of the way. I will be grinding today and late into the night.

Saturday we have a big snow coming this way from what I can see. The weather man is going nuts just talking about it. So, I need to make sure I have the wood in for the cold nights.

Sunday will be a family day here. How's your week-end looking. Hope you all have nice one. :)

oh, I'm down to 3 rush orders for christmas.... man, i hate deadlines.

doing a tile job half the week every week through january.

having fun getting ready for christmas. fortunately, my 4 year old isn't expensive to buy for yet, he'd rather have 6 foot 2x2s and help me make blocks than go have me buy blocks premade. I did get him an age appropriate r/c amphibious car thing.

MIGHT still talk my wife into a dog......

Working..... It is seven days a week and 9-12 hour days this time of year. I set about 50-60 diamonds today. People don't understand why I don't get a thrill out of Christmas. I will go out to the shop at 4AM to finish the two Christmas knives I am working on.

I am out of here Saturday for a full day of forging at John Davis' house. Good people and even better food and moonshine too.

Gota try to ... melt out the big icecube in the bottom of my slack tub, i forgot to empty it before the cold weather last week. Then i've got a few blades i want to get some work on. in particular I want to work on a blade I'm making for an acquaintance of mine in the military who is likely going to be going back for yet another tour of duty in the sand box. He wants me to make him a survival style knife, preferably with a hollow handle that he can put matches in and keep clean and dry. I'm going to attempt (attempt being the key word) to forge out an integral from a piece of 3/4" round O1 and then chop off plain round bar for the handle, then drill out the core from the 3/4" round and tap it for a threaded but-cap with a depression for an o-ring to make it water tight.

Pretty ambitious for myself but it's what I want to do. I want to give myself enough time to get it actually made before he gets a chance to get called back there, this person doesn't know it yet but I plan on making it for him for free. I want to give myself plenty of time to screw up a few times like I'm sure i will, and still get a knife finished in time.

Have a few people coming over tomorrow (BBBB Beaver, Kook, Nathan and etc.). I have a big pot of beef stew cooking and have some fresh Portagee buns for tomorrow. So if anyone is in the area come on down.:D

I'll be busy packing since we are going to be moving sooner than I thought. Just over a week away from the big move.
