Week-end Post, What Are You Doing

Vista huh  Can I come and watch what a new computer looks like when it's thrown across the room? :D Just kidding ofcourse. Good luck with your new computer.

I'll be making some sheaths for desk knives and also working on this 3.25" 2 blade swayback jack....tiny blades! It's almost tuned up and ready to start on soldering bolsters, fitting handle material, etc.

Got a large "Honey Do" list to go through tomorrow, won't be playing with the toys out in the shop :D

I'm going to be spending half of Saturday just flying home from Billings, Montana. I'm in Colstrip, Montana tonight. I have to get up early Saturday morning and make the drive back to Billings to catch my flight. I'll probably spend Saturday evening washing my clothes from the week of travel and reclining in my chair recuperating from a hectic week.

Sunday I'm going to catch up on paperwork and maybe slots some guards for knives I'm making for the Oregon show in April. (Yes, I got my passes and table assignment!! My first show!!!!)

Sunday afternoon, I'm heading out to pick up a gourmet meal that I'm having cooked for my wife for her birthday. I cook for her all the time, so me making a nice meal for her is no special treat. Her best friend is a gourmet chef and agreed to put together a wonderful birthday meal for her. My wife only knows that I'm going out to pick up dinner that night, but doesn't know what it is. My wife loves her friends cooking!!!

I'll pick up some flowers on the way home for the center piece and light some candles with the meal using our antique dishes with our good silver set. I'll be opening a nice bottle of 2004 Gewurztraminer from Chateau St. Michelle. I think she'll be happy.

went to pickup my Torus 45/410 ss 6" judge today from Marcel :D I have to play with that tomorow , I just have to... :D

Marcel, if your looking, Thanks for opening up for me.. and the extra stuff

I am building my new shop and put down the floor in the heated work area today. Half inch thick rubberized matting.....

I am just weeks away from finished and I will post pics........ Setting up for working stone and other exotic materials...... NO WOOD.

Well it's early, but i know my plans for the weekend already =P This Friday is my birthday, so I celebrated by hitting the electrical supply store and got myself 43 feet of 8/3 SO cable (all they had in the store,Ii was going to get 50 ) and a pair of ends to make myself an extension cable so I can start messing around with the old Lincoln AC buzz box stick welder that I've had for 9 months now and haven't yet used, for lack of 220 in the garage.

Maybe I'm odd buying myself parts for an extension cord as my birthday present to myself, but hey =D

No pats game this weekend, Saturday I'm going into Boston to get together with friends and my twin brother for our birthday and get some food, Sunday I'm going to spend time burning welding rod (or hopefully burning rod, I don't know if the welder works, but there's not much to go wrong in a Lincoln tombstone)

but there's not much to go wrong in a Lincoln tombstone)

sounds like about what I have does it weigh about 500 pounds? :)
I've had this one for over 20 years and it was older then dirt when I got it..
I've been useing it for over 30 year my dad had it before me.. still working great.
this weekend ,,, I'm going to do just what I feel like doing when I feel like doing it :D but that's just about what I do now I think  :)

Dan,

My brother Rob pulled a tombstone buzzbox out of a dumpster about 20 years ago. He just cleaned it out, repainted it and has been using it since. Great machines  I wish it was AC/DC though, I really like DC welding.

I'll be spending the weekend with Family, my Sister Val and her husband Alex are in from San Diego, Ca for a week and our Family is getting together Saturday, and Sunday Alex and I will be jamming with the Lightning Brother.
It's gonna be a great weekend :D

It doesn't weigh 500lbs, but it sure feels like it when you move it.

Here's a pic of it in the back of my shop

steelpile.jpg

I replaced the ground clamp, the electrode holder, and opened up the back pannel and blew the cobwebs off the transformer with my air compressor, so i figure since that's all there is to an AC welder, I should be good.

I'll have to get Larry up to my shop someday to show me what i'm doing wrong if i dont get it right off the bat =D

Justin,
It's really not 500#, just seems like it. As I stated, I prefer DC welding, but when using AC, I've found that 7018 AC, 3/32 diameter wire works best for me. The issue with 7018 is that it's best to grind the work area clean of rust, scale, greese, etc. to get a good weld, whereas most AC type wires work real well when welding right over those contaminants just mentioned.

Justin, that is almost the same as mine, but I have the Ac/Dc unit. It goes both ways like the BBBB Beaver.:jerkit::eek::D HEHEHEHEHE!!!

I'm thinking this isn't a tombstone but it is a Lincoln it will handle 500 amp
though I've only drawn up to 50 amp with it . I had to use chainfalls to get it in here,, it's at least 500+ pounds.. :D

Just getting all the stuff done on the new computer. Set up the NetGear and the Security. My wife will like this. The good thing about it is, She will not be telling me she wants DSL and a faster computer. How about all you?

February 1, 2008

Well we got the ice here last night, but no big snow. I am working on the handles for one of my order's. I also been setting up the Photo Tent as well. Need to work on getting the light right. :)
Also need to order up some pins and some new belts as well. Sunday it will be just family day here. How about all of you? What's your week-end looking like.

my buddys just puked last year so he bought a new one. it was about 30+ years old and had a rough life but still done a good job right up till its end. this weekend i'm going to be teaching a new member how to sharpen knives with the cardboard wheels and maybe turn him loose on the disc sander with a blank.

It's party day today.:D It's my sweetheart's 37th B'day today. We will be piggin out all day. My Student Nathan brought over 5# of steamers (soft shell clams) yesterday. I just pickup crabs, mussels and littleneck's. I am making up a New England style Portagee clamboil. I have enough food for about 8 people. HEHEHEHEHE!!! With all the leftovers I make a clamboil stew.:D
So if anyone wants to stop by tomorrow for some stew and Damascus making , come on down.

Not sure what i'm doing saturday. Sunday i /plan/ on going to the NCCA show in CT and then hauling tail back to boston for a superbowl party. I may end up having to skip the ncca show depending on how things work out though, patriots football > ncca show sorry !

Speakin of superbowl parties, last year the NFL came down real hard on churches and warned them they would prosecute any organization for advertising or using the word "SUPERBOWL" to promote a gathering like a superbowl party. They also reminded people that it would be against their copyright to have video bigger than a certain size per x number of people etc, etc. Churches in my area and probably around the country often have youth group superbowl parties since the game is Sunday evening.

This year our church youth group is having a "Superb Owl" party :D

Kook and I will be at IG's tomorrow (even though when I called him earlier today he said that he just moved, Ill find him :D) to help him with his Portagee clamboil . Of course Sunday will be Superbowl day. But right now maybe I'll crack open a beer  cause it was a long day at work, too much krap. I like to stay busy at work but sometimes management is pulling at you in too many different directions

Super Bowl and to sit around my shop organizing and gathering materials to build a waste oil forge. Got the satanite and kaowool arriving in the middle of the week. Got to get forge body and burners cut and welded up.

Rebuilding a shop after a divorce and hurricane is rather frustrating, seems like there's always something I didn't remember that I used to have.
