Week-end Post, What Are You Doing

Back from the parade. It was awesome this year. 337 units, over 8000 participants, and 50,000 to 70,000 spectators. Our float rocked, with my new sound system. Temps started out in the mid 50's quickly became the 60's and now are in the 70's. Sunny and no breeze at all. I'll post some photos later.

Sounds better than the cold and snow, sleet, and freezing rain we had up here =P

IG put on a great corned beef and cabbage as usual. Unfortunately i wasn't able to stay too long as my brother was driving down from Boston to my house.

Here are some of the photos from the parade. The picture looking down the street was about 1/3 of the way into the parade. It took 2 hours for all the units to cross the start line. The pirate ship in the photo is huge. It has mounted cannons they shoot, and lots more. The space shuttle was built by some dads at a local dance school for kids. It is about 40 feet long. The mermaids are sitting on the bow of a $200,000 boat. The Nessie float is one I built for our Scottish society a few yeas back. They have updated it a bit. mandatory biker pic.

I actually manged to get out in the shop this morning, forge one blade, finished profiling a sgian dubh and got the bevels mostly ground in both the blade and the sgian dubh (cable damascus)

I'm also working on a filet knife for a friend who wants me to make him one.

Today going out of town with one of the kids. Sat will be working in the shop. I also need to do some work on the home as well. I need a boat here with all the rain. Sunday going out with the family for dinner. How's your week-end looking? ----------

Got Nathan and Peaches coming over for today. They will be attempting to complete the projects they started. I am going to start build some forges. One for the door prize at the HI and another 2 that I will offer for sale at the HI.;):D

Rehearsal this morning for the Cantata tomorrow, then out in the shop to finish some knives for next weekends show at Harrisonburg.
I finished 8 autos and 3 liner locks so far this week.

Been up on the roof this week working on some leaks that has occurred during the winter months. It seems like something is always going wrong. I called a company that puts on metal roofs and he came down and gave me one of the most ridiculous estimates $ 20.800.00 just for the tear off hauling away old roof and replacing with new metal roof.

So, I got back up on the roof and repaired it with a can of Black Jack. Last night we had one hell of a rain here and it did not leak, not a drop. I had 5 water buckets inside the home and shop. This goes to show you what prayer can do. ;)

Hope to get back in the shop this week-end. I have one to finish up. How's your week-end shaping up.

trying to finish up some custom jobs with deadlines of next weekend maybe do a form for my new smelter design so I can test it next week

Going to Batson's Saturday, Whit and I were going today but weather is getting rather nasty and best not to be driving 90 miles one way. I'm going back to bed... got home at 6am, bed at 7, woke up about 1115 and talked to Whit at noon.

I'll be going up tomorrow. I hate to be missing out already, but it won't be too much fun tonight if they are right about the weather! So I left Will in the lurch for today, but I'm looking forward to getting up there tomorrow. I even have a knife ready for some serious critique!

Making up some blower forges to sell at the HI that I will be having. Trying to get 2 @ 18" and 2 @ 12". One of the 18" is spoken for with a swap and some $$$$$.:D:D

Well, I got lucky, as a shipment of components did not make it to work today so I won't have to work tomorrow.

I guess I'll be working on the cycle ie finish installing the tranny and that kind of crap. Also I will be changing the bike back to a point ignition as I've replaced the single fire coil ($160) on my Crane electronic ignition twice in the last 2 years and the dam thing burned out again. If I get her up and running maybe I'll take her out for sea trials, maybe to New Bedford :D

Still working on getting the another knife done. Trying to work between the rain drops. I have a roof man coming out some time to day to give me a estimate on the repairs. Was going to purchase a metal roof but the cost of a metal roof is out of my ballpark. I just can not justify $ 20.800.00 for a new roof. So, thats where I am now just waiting to see how much the repairs will be.

I am happy to get my new barbecue smoker set up and got the new cover for it as well Thursday. That's out of the way. I did manage to get down some fertilizer and weak killer for the yard yesterday before the rain came last night. Boy, that will green up the lawn in a few days. Will be changing the oil and air filter on the simplicity mower this week-end. :)
So, what plans are you all thinking up for the week-end?

Traveling up to new hampshire for the weekend for a family get together and to celebrate my older brother's birthday. Not sure if i'll get any work around the house done, but if I do, i'm working on putting up cedar board in my walk in closet to make it into a cedar closet.
