Still trying to get 4 gas forges done. Have Jon and Nathan coming over tomorrow, to finish up the knives that they started.:D

got a handle epoxied on and drying now, have 6 sheaths to finish up this weekend, an integral wharncliffe necker that's just kicking my ass on 320 grit, but just needs a good cord wrap handle after that.

Add in the kids (my 4 year old is pretty good with a bow now, but I have to take him to the range every other day), midterm studying for the wife, and logistics for a music festival and I don't think i'm gonna add sleep into the mix this weekend.

Leaving in a few minutes to set up the sound system for the Tartan Day ceilidh tonight. We have three bands coming.

I got about an hour ,earlier today, to work on the commemorative knife ( for the son of the soldier who died). I formed the distal taper, bevels, false edge, hollowed the tang, and took it to 400. A little hand sanding and it will be ready for HT tomorrow. Still deciding on how I want the bolsters.

For you Scots:
Here is the key line from the Declaration of Arbroath
"............for, as long as but a hundred of us remain alive, never will we on any conditions be brought under English rule. It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom – for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself."

Stacy E. Apelt, FSA Scot

Stacy would probably appreciate what I got in the mail today.

This sporran I commissioned a while ago, it's Canadian beaver fur, with elk hide tassels, an all leather elk cantle, and lined on the inside with suede. The picture below that is of a nice Victorian grouse claw kilt pin, silver inset with tigerseye.

Woah, that's a tough act to follow! Very cool BTW...

I got my motor for the new Coote's in this week and got it wired. I installed a switch on the power cable like I have seen here on BF. Runs really smooth. Too bad the grinder is still on the way.

Building anvil stand for the Chuck Robinson stand I bought at Batson's... making stands for my stepdaughter's anvil and my 9yo daughter's anvil.... yes, 2 girls, different ages/sizes with their own anvil.

My 9yo likes artistic blacksmithing, I've designed some simple candle holder/sconces, I'll have to do the hot cutting and twisting because of her size. Can you imagine how they'll sell at a crafts fair?? little cute 9yo girl that looks like Dora the Explorer hammering hot steel and selling candleholders??? It may fund the fly press she needs for our smithy :D

Had a bowfishing tournament this past weekend. 21 teams showed up. We were DOA by 1:30am so we just slowly worked our way back and called it a night.

Today I will be working on another knife. Saturday I will be getting one ready to ship out. Also, need to do some cleaning as well. How about all of you great knife makers? Hope your day will be a great and blessed one. Still waiting on the roof man to come.

Going shooting with my wife and my mother. They need to brush up a little on self defense skills. :)
Then we'll replace mom's swamp cooler and help her around the house a little.

Tomorrow we are having a garage sale. Sometime this weekend I will be working on building my own crab trap/pot. Got crabs in the river behind my house. Some big blue crabs too.

I'm looking forward to buiding a bench to put the new Coote's on. I am shooting for nice and heavy.

Just started a pot of goat stew, this is for the crew that is coming over today to get my shop ready for next weekend's HI.

Hopefully building anvil stands... had to work last weekend so those jobs got carried over to this weekend. Forging 4 hunters and a small defence/fighter.

May have some friends over Sunday for some bar-b-que..... may get them to whomp on some steel :D

Got the cycle running today. Will be going to a memorial service for an old friend who passed away recently. I actually bought the bike from him back in 1983, so Linda and I will be riding the cycle to the event.

Gotta get ready to grind up some moose meat for the chili that I will be making for the HI at Wa..Wa..Wally's next weekend. My mom has a meat grinder that I have to borrow for this.

See ya next Saturday Wa..Wa..Wally :D

The snow is melting around here, yesterday I prepped the snowmobile for winter storage, checked the chainbox, sliders, painted the skis and luggage rack etc. Today I will start cutting firewood for next winter.

See ya next Saturday Wa..Wa..Wally :D
