Week-end Post, What Are You Doing

unpacking!

Sold 2 "unsellable" knives and a couple others, got some orders. Spent 4 days in Reno with koyote girl selling knives - and counting gas, food, shopping, drinking, came out $25 ahead. I guess I'll call it fair enough.

Ran into a few forumites, too.

Now i'm going to keep unpacking and set up a few to take proper pictures of for sale tomorrow.

Still working on the knife order. Doing the finishing work on the knife. I sealed the handles yesterday. WIll be doing the finishing work and final rug on the blade before putting the edge on. Saturday will be cleaning up the shop and preparing for another order to layout. I also, will need to order up some more belts for the grinders. I hope your weekend will be a challenging one as well. -----:)

work work work. getting along on the wedding set, trying to get more roof on the lean to shop. BOTH cars are in the shop, which makes getting the 2x4s a hassle.

Forged the ishizuki for the pole arm this afternoon.
Just returned from running the entertainment for a big beach shindig for congresswoman Thelma Drake. Had a good evening.

Working on a blacksmithing project that I can do from the relative comfort of my computer chair. Last weekend at the Atlantic coast blacksmith conference A fellow there was there with 36 hours of old Francis Whittaker demonstrations that were recovered from old VHS tapes and put on DVD. The problem is that there's a lot of background noise and it's hard to catch everything said while watching it. I talked with the person who made the DVDs and I'm going to be creating subtitles for the DVDs. My "payment" was a set of the 17 dvds (retail $150) but it takes about 5 hours to do one hour of subtitles, so It's basically volunteer work for the preservation of blacksmithing history, considering I'm expecting about 180 to 200 hours of work. I've already done one DVD which I finished this last week, and I'm starting on the second one as I type this.

I will be putting on a big barbecue this week-end. Going use the new sauce I did last week-end. It will be outstanding. This will be a 12 hour job in the smoker. Later on saturday will be out in the shop working on a new knife order. Sunday will be with family. And: - yes more barbecue. Hope your week-end looking good as well.

I may throw somewthing on the pit while I'm cleaning up all the cr*p that Ike threw around my place. 2 big trees to cut up and then put all the knicknacks of the wifes back out so I can get back in the knife shop.

Working on my winter wood for this year. This will be a cold one here this year in Indiana. Most of the wood has been down for about 2 years and will burn great. If I get some time also will be cleaning up the shop as well. Hope your week-end is looking up too.

Doing a car show today. Since I'm missing out on opening day of bow season today I'll be in the stand tomorrow.

Went to ken-do class this morning and now I am looking at my mess of a half set up shop. Waiting on stuff from Aldo, Darren and Patriqq. Not to mention I need a motor for my grinder. I hate waiting lol. I just want to make a knife!

bit far away, I have an old "emergency" 1/2 horse that sits in a cabinet waiting for a bandsaw or grinder to blow. It's not much but I'd loan it to you if the shipping wouldn't cost more than it's worth.

TSC has some decent inexpensive single speeds, probably about the same as horbour freight, but more selection.

Spent the morning at the South County Museum in Narragansett, and started forging the blade for my xmas exchange knife recipient, and planning out the bladesmithing class that I'm teaching on October 25th.

Got home and finished installing my pellet stove and getting it ready for inspection by the fire marshal

tomorrow I'm going to do some serious cleaning because my living room and deck look like a disaster zone right now after cutting holes in my wall and whatnot.
