Week-end Post, What Are You Doing

Thanks Christof, that is generous of you. I am going to pick one up here in the next few days. I just haven't yet. I sold quite a few larger tools before leaving Alaska and have been replacing them and assembling work benches and such. I am also making the jump to forging so I have a bunch of supplies on the way for that. Anticipation is killing me.

Cleaning up the forge area. Reporter and photographer are coming at 3PM to do an article on my knives and swords.

Well I've been working on getting my winter wood buildup for the long winter that awaits us here in Indiana. This is going to be a very cold winter here in the great state of Indiana. Here is what I accomplished this week here. And let me tell you, my back is killing me.

I also am starting a order on 4 knives. The City Slicker's The customer once them in the wildebeest Amber/Bourbon jig bone. This knife is one of my bestsellers this year.:D

I hope you good folks our planning out one of the greatest weekends in your life. Well, it sounds good. Better get back outside and finish up on the red & white Oakwood. Saturday shop work and cleanup later. Sunday my day off.

Man I am jealous. Uni is my favorite thing in the world. Well, besides knives... and swords... and a few other things. But it is way up there.

Ordering steel to ruin - haven't tried to grind anything in years. Was a newbie back then! Riding up the hill for a friend's bar 'n grill grand opening, getting my knife grinder mounted up for the first time in 8 years, replacing the broken bracket on my Harey. Sunday, church & a smoked BBQ brisket - homemade BBQ sauce....

I hope to finish one of the bevels on my gift exchange knife tomorrow, I did some more work on it today.

Well, I got all the wood for the winter Saturday out of the way, about 10 ricks. And got the 4 knives grinded out as well. My back is killing me today. Hope you all have a great Sunday and a blessed one. ----------

Leaving out tonight and going on vacation. We will be lodging in a New wood log cabin in the Great Smoky Mountains. This is a beautiful time of year in the Smokies. We really enjoy the atmosphere and the great surroundings. I hope to get a reasonable amount of photographs to share. There is one thing I will be looking for down there and that's a new pair of work boots for the shop. And I will keep my eye open for a decent looking avil.

Yesterday the doctors called and gave me some unwanted news. He said my cholesterol is at 275 which is not good. He going to send me some literature on how to get it down to a acceptable area. I know I been feeling kinda sluggish lately. I do need to lose some weight which we'll probably help.

I hope all my friends on here will have a great week and a blessed one as well. And IG we are still praying for Helen. I always remember my friends out there. We all need help in this life. So, see you folks in 8 day or so. :D

Barkes,
Good luck on the anvil. I go to the smokies 4 or 5 times a year. Haven't found a deal on one yet. I'm heading up that way in Nov. It is really pretty this time of year. Hope you have a great Vacation.
I'm going to be finishing Zippy's (my pet squirrel) new cadge and hopefully get in some shop time.

Terry,

Ya the high cholesterol is not a laughing matter. My doc put me on medicine to control it a few years ago. I used them for a couple of weeks and didn't like the side effects, so stopped doing them.

My wife and I joined Weight Watchers (core program), and I lost 75# in a couple of years, my cholestorol dropped to around 200 which is fine for a person my age (56).

If you don't have cholestorol issues through genetics, WW would be a good thing to try.

And of course Helen and IG are in our prayers.

Tonight my band is playing a gig in Westerly, RI. For the rest of the long weekend I'll be spending time with my sweety, doing some riding, and having fun general.

Hope you all have a great weekend and an even better Monday out of work

Ride safe!

plain oatmeal is supposed to help w/ cholesterol. My aunt eats a bowl everyday (per her Dr.'s advice) Have fun in the Smokies!

My dad would always make porridge with oatbran in the morning, it and other foods such as ground flax seed in his orange juice really helped his cholesterol.

Its thanksgiving long weekend in Canada so we will be feasting on bird and beer.
Have A great weekend everyone!

The shop is getting a back log of actual work that needs to be done. So I'll be out machining stuff instead of working on knives for at least the rest of the month. So, I'm off go setup a job. Sigh...
