Hey, it worked! It's kind of a long story, and you kinda had to be there... but you weren't. And I was. So there
Agreed. He had several songs that I don't approve of. I'm sure you can guess which ones.
Some of his lyrics are and I really hate to say this are full of "Southernisms" which really don't translate very well, I despise the fact that they have to be explained but some of the terms I've heard used even by African-Americans on several of the work sites when I used to do commercial roofing. These roofers used to refer to the labor gang (not the roofers) as "N!@#$!@# labor." I'd been away from the crew for 6 months, when I came back the straw boss (a black man) told me to get over there with the "N!@$! labor" to show I hadn't forgotten how to work. Really weird and sad in a way, because he was someone I really respected.
Racism has always struck me as sad and strange because I was the first Japanese person most people ever met around here . I'll never forget my first day at football practice as a 6 year old. "Son, where you from?" Japan sir. "That black or white?" Neither sir. "Son, you gotta be one or the other." No sir, I'm Japanese. Football is how I gained social acceptance around here. People quickly learned that "that Japanese kid" will knock your dick in the dirt pretty damn quick. If I had a problem with someone in school it was a bad day on the practice field for anyone lining up in front of me. Big, fast and mean is a great skill set in a defensive football player, not so much as a person though. My brother is only 2 years younger than me and he never had the issues I did, mainly because of me. He did have to live up to their expectations, unfortunately he's big, mean and slow (on the field, not mentally)

Football is the only sport I miss playing. I always dreamed of playing for Bear Bryant, the day he retired and I realized I'd never get that chance is one of the saddest days of my life.
Anywayssssssss my plans for this weekend. I have to handle, sheath and ship a batch of SFCs, also during this I have to teach my oldest daughter to do sheath work so she can earn money.
I have an oyster knife to rough grind and hopefully heat treat. I have another sheath to do for a customer, already got it pretty much finished cept for gluing it up and stitching.
Weather's supposed to be bad so I may not get anything done cept shop work. I need to dig out and level the ground where we plan on building my smithy so I can forge and heat treat in weather. Makes my back hurt thinking about it.
