Last year we were so droughty that it never even greened up in the spring time. I'd never seen that before. All done for the day:

Grinding outside must make it a lot nicer, as always love the shots and yeah, drought sucks, looking a bit greener now though.

Nichole is gonna do the two belts for me.

Finished the sheath for that little yellow handled San Mai knife! I kinda think this liver colored leather looks pretty good with the yellow handle sticking out of it!( I get my leather from a harness maker so there's a lot of liver colored leather)View attachment 1806168View attachment 1806171View attachment 1806172
Another sheath! I tried to get an old school sort of frontiersman look to match the knifeView attachment 1807566View attachment 1807567View attachment 1807568
Those look great! Second one is interesting with the stitching and the lacing.

Had to fix some fence. Found four large holes on our west side:

That fence is well over a hundred years old in places. The wire is very brittle making it difficult to fix.

Spud, (my horse) the horse on the right has Horsewright rein connectors which connect the braided rawhide rein to the rein chain of the bit. These are constructed with a brass Sam Browne stud so that the reins can easily be removed from the bridle and allow them to be stored hanging straight. Spud also has a Horsewright martingale/breast collar on that attaches to the saddle and goes across his chest. Helps stabilize the saddle in rough country or on steep climbs like here.

Lil Man, (Nichole's horse), on the left has a Horsewright headstall, curb strap and split reins on. Both horses are hobbled and stay put while we are working. Wind was a howling that day.

I just finished up this knife and sheath. I've only done a couple scout carry rigs, and I gotta tell you they are tricky even though they look simple!
