Whacha Been Up To......

I just finished up this knife and sheath. I've only done a couple scout carry rigs, and I gotta tell you they are tricky even though they look simple!

Horsewright Horsewright Dave that looks like Gene Ingram's logo on that one knife, and as always, lovely work!

Finished off a very heavy duty set of farrier chaps. This leather is often referred to tin the western world as mulehide but its not. Its real name is apron split. It comes in two tannages firm and soft. Most farriers want the firmer tannage. When doubled in the knee pad area it is very stout indeed.

On the right leg two knife pockets.

On the left leg one knife pocket and a sewn in farriers magnet. The magnet will hold the horseshoe nails while working:

Adjustable leg straps in back round er off:

Roughout spur straps are probably our biggest seller as far as spur straps go.

working on a batch of twelve CPK dagger sheaths- happy to have figured out a way to get my mark centred with consistent placement. Nothing bugs me more than something that's supposed to be symmetrical and isn't

Symmetry was almost my life for years but I learned a long time ago I would never get my mark perfectly centered and aligned. So, I intentionally put it on at varying angles on every piece I make. I do make some effort to center it though. I have never had a complaint about it. A example.

first of all; that's some nice work!
secondly, I totally agree about mark placement, generally speaking. In this case the sheaths are as symmetrical as I could make them so an off center mark stands out like crazy. I almost threw the prototype for this batch in the garbage because the mark was off center, but fortunately someone bought it instead 🤣

Been studying these for a bit. Very cool. Particularly like the shot showing the center welt. I'd sure like to see a pic of this on if you got it. either in the back pocket as you mentioned or small of the back (SOB) carry like I originally thought. Very Very nice work. Like I said I keep coming back and looking at these photos.
