What are you watching & why? (splain)

A lot of banshee was filmed right here in Mooresville. Jo and I watched the show just to see our town. That's largely Mooresville. We recognize all the roads and buildings although some of it is out of context on the show. It's trippy.
I liked Banshee, rewatched the first couple seasons with my wife when I met her and got her hooked and we finished the show together. It’s pulpy but enjoyable.

Antony Starr (main character) is excellent in The Boys. Makes even the most f-d up stuff in Banshee look like Teletubbies though.

Bosch: Legacy. He is still in it but his daughter is now a rookie cop and we follow his, and her, threads. So far, so good.
Yeah it’s basically more of the same Bosch, I have a hunch they just had a couple of the main characters who wanted to do different stuff so they had to reshuffle the cast.

If you like that, I really liked Southland.

Ok, it's official. I really liked "The Terminal List" which just aired on Prime.

Found it so entertaining that I ended up watching all 8 episodes in just 2 days and stayed up til 3am this morning to finish it.

It's a revenge movie that (at least to me) contains hints of the "Jason Bourne" movie series, "The Revenant," "Hannibal," "Sicario," "The Shooter" and "The Minority Report" (all movies that I also like) in it. Yeah, there are a lot of plot holes but that's to be expected w/this type of show.

Chris Pratt plays a Navy Seal named James who loses his team in a fire fight. The reasons for this don't make sense to him. So, he tries to find out why which causes others to attempt to put him away, resulting life changing events for him and death to those who caused those events.

What I like about James is the same thing I like about Dan in "The Old Man."

Once James is set on his road for revenge, he's a cold blooded killer (trained well to be so by the US Navy) and when he takes a life it is w/o any hesitation or remorse because he believes his "mission" is justified but, yet, he has a conscience and does everything he can to avoid killing those who do not deserve his wrath.

While not much blood/gore is actually shown, there is one particularly brutal killing scene when James uses a hatchet to disembowel his victim and then pulls the victim's guts out (while he's still alive) and then tells him to "walk."

This seemed original until you think back to "Hannibal" but it was "entertaining just the same. LOL! ;)

The ending as far as "who done it" is also pretty predictable. I even guessed one of Pratt's lines near the end but that didn't bother me because (on a whole) the show was still very entertaining to me and should be to anyone else who likes this kind of show.

PS: Pratt seems to be on a roll and (at least for now) apparently has succeeded Matt Damon as the action hero "du jour."

While there are certain similarities, the character hat Pratt plays in "Terminal List" is distinctly different from the character he plays in "The Tomorrow War" and also different than the character that he plays in "Jurrasic World" and "Fallen Kingdom. "

And, if there's another season, of "Reacher," I hope that Pratt takes over as Jack Reacher too because the guy who played that role in the 1st (and probably the last) season just didn't pull off that role as well as I think Pratt could.

Well, I liked Nobody so I'll give it a try. I mix up Chris Pratt, Chris Evans, and Chris Helmsworth. I think they are all hunky Australians or something. lol

And what did you think? I happened to watch the movie -- out of the corner of my eye -- while surfing the Net.

Guess you'd could call it a rom-com. There were only 2 possible endings -- real life or fantasy. Fantasy won out which I assume the screenwriter/producers felt would be inspirational Didn't hate it but story was certainly improbable.

Didn't love or hate it.

The tournament, or the movie? I didn’t know that there was a movie until sgt1372’s post, above.
I’ve been watching bits of the tournament.
The tournament. Always liked tennis, guess because I grew up watching it with my mother, who played in various local leagues for many years. I played for fun during high school and college, and played my mother once. Not ashamed to admit she beat me, but it was close. Also grew up watching football, stock car racing, and Indy car racing with my dad, but football was the only one that stuck. Got my love of cars from him, but watching them go around in circles just didn't click with me.

Weird Science, or at least trying to. Started at 7 and only halfway thru cuz the wife always has a million other random things to do.
Well that took 3 hours:rolleyes:. Wife went to bed and I'm now watching Battleship. Don't care that it bombed. As silly as the premise is, thought it was very entertaining considering they had to tie it to a board game, and when they fire up the Missouri near the end it brings a tear to my eye every time. I f'ing love battleships. Liked John Carter too...another "bomb" starring Kitsch. Have loved the books forever, so had high expectations, which it didn't really meet, but still thought it was a lot better than the reviews. Bit of trivia...the first full length animated film was almost based on the Princess of Mars book. MGM had the rights and it was in development, but it got cancelled for some reason, and a year or two later Snow White was released to get the honor.
