What brands WON'T you own?

Too much work to cut out the off-topic and trolling posts and the thread's been trashed by now. What to do?

Lock it and come back to think about it later ...

Good night.

3G,

Since we hashed it out elsewhere, I've edited my posts, would appreciate if you do the same, we can let this thread get back on track.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Thanks for the unlock. I followed 3G's link and found, to my dismay, that I was out of line with my original comment toward Thomas and my rehash of it here. My apologies, Thomas.

Is this the part where everybody sings "Kumbaya?" Because I hate that song.

For those people that have Buck on their no buy lists because of quality, buck is moving all production back to the good ol' U.S.A!

questionable buisness practices with regards to colaborators/supplies/whoever. Some people have latched on to this as an excuse to not deal with the company (and that is certainly their right)

Having spoken with one of these collaborators, one whom I respect a lot, I won't buy from Bark River for the reasons mentioned above.

I'm selling my last BR, and I've sold or am selling the few Blackjack knives I own.

I will say this though. The knives are lovely and well-designed. To each his own...

About the only production knives I *do* buy these days are Busse Company, Spyderco, and Victorinox. Those three brands do what needs to be done. There's also enough variety and innovation to keep me interested.

I can not imagine why folks have issues with buck. they produce knives of all styles and designs in a number of price ranges. there is something for everyone in my opinion. but it is just that my opinion.

If you'd prefer to e-mail me, please do, but I would be curious to hear what negative info you have on Bark River and (especially) Blackjack. I've never heard anything but positive things about them, but am always trying to keep an ear to the ground.

I don't buy Spyderco, just hate their designs.
I don't buy Strider, MicroTech or Chris Reeve, just way overpriced.
I don't buy substandard sh1t like Mtech, United, Frost and all the brands like it.

I think any folder over $150 is overpriced unless it offers something unique - and it'd better be special. Trying to pass folders off as 'as strong or stronger' than fixed blades is stupid, and paying custom prices for them is even worse.

I have good experience (folders) with Cold Steel, Kershaw (been awhile since I bought one), Leatherman and Ka-Bar. CRKT is ok but nothing special, same for Buck and Gerber. Never owned a SOG and now looks I never will.
I own an Uzi Defender folder in 154CM and love it.

Lately I'm more into fixed blades, and went from Ka-Bar thru Cold Steel to Busse. I might still buy folders but they will be specialties, like the giant folders from CS. I have good experience with the ones I own, and hear good things about the Rajah and the Espada. I also still wanna have a Balisong or two, might actually turn to Spyderco for that, or Benchmade.

my 2cts. :)

how can i not find what i need in kai/kershaw/zt's lineup?...they have cheap knives, and expensive knives and knives/tools that fit nearly any job you need to fill...performance, quality, price; i rarely need to look at other brands...and the few times that i do i look at the spyderco's...that's pretty much it...

actually, i did purchase a swiss army knife, but that's only because it had a cigar cutter...if kershaw made a knife with a cigar cutter life would be perfect...
