Nice axe. What's going on with the fawn's foot?

Somebody abused it. A big chunk is missing but the handle seems solid. Not sure if its original to the axe or not. The axe is a little on the heavy side for personal preference but had great patina. I probably won't use it much.

you guys have been keeping busy with some nice axes, i finally found some time to get my black prince boys axe on a new haft. 28" house handle with a cherry wedge. first time using a hart wood handle, its a little harder to whittle down to reshape it but it has good grain orientation so im sure it will work just fine.

Beautiful!!!

Made from a block of Ash. Stained with a Watco "Medium Walnut" Oil finish. Cherry wedges

These are what I started with.

Took my 3lb 2oz Keen Kutter Jersey Pattern off its old 27" straight octagonal handle and put it on a longer handle I designed myself:

31.5" total, offset to center balancepoint, straight octagonal that transitions into a rounded, slightly angled fawn's foot handle:

Nice and slim with good alignment:

Really just love how thin this bit is while still having that high centerline. The grain orientation on the blank I used was perfect too:
