What did you rehang today?

My first flea market grab - 1944 Spiller Jersey on a new (less than ideal :( handle). Handle was a Link hickory handle ordered from Amazon.

Yeah I know..

Grain runs pretty straight though

Oh well if I breaks I will be more picky next time.

Is that the mark of a chopping noob? :D
It is the mark of a man who used an ax. It is nothing to be ashamed of. And a man who wears that Mark will learn the lessons from it as he will. No insult or ribbing meant. Just respect. Nice find. And good luck in your love affair with axes.

Nice. I knew I got it trying the axe out the other day but didn't know it was typical!

Nice axe !
BTW you're a fisherman aren't you ? Because I see you and my tackle box both have something in common;);)

Gives it away huh? Commemorates both my love of fishing and my late grandfather who took me often as a kid.
That's awesome.
My dad doesn't have the drive to go fishing like he used to when my grandpa was alive but we to fish together every once in a while. I've yet to catch a fish that was long enough to keep, but that doesn't keep me from enjoying it.

Going "mauls out". lol.

A coworker at asked me to fix his maul for him. He passed it off to me about 2 months ago at lunch and I just got around to fixing it today. His son was splitting wood on their stone corrugate RV pad and smashed the edge pretty bad.

He was interested in me carving a straight handle with a crook in it like a Finnish axe but the wood I have wasn’t suitable for a 36” maul handle. That and the investment in my time for a free project…

Also, I am going to bring him a 2’ splitting block round and explain he should let the "Tool" do the work and also not to chop on the concrete this time.

*"Tool" being the axe - not his son, of course. ;)

NE old yank 3 1/4 rockaway? and a 3 3/4 lb E&S jersey. both on handles salvaged from old axes. the one on the right is an old marked S&N.

The old yank is already a favorite and a solid chopper.
