No I haven’t. These are already more comfortable in hand than my store bought plastic ones and the idea was to save the cool grips. Maybe a round knob-end handle would be more comfortable, we’ll see, I imagine I’ll have a bucket full of them eventually.

I’m sure a round end would feel good but I could just carve one of those and I like the idea of preserving these grips.

I got hit hard with a bad case of the flu that's left me in a quasi-delirious state all weekend, but despite that I did manage to get some work done on refurbishing my grandfather's Snow & Nealley Hudson Bay. It had some overstrike damage to the haft, and a bad ledge under where the eye was seated, but I had plenty of room to sink it lower on the shoulder. Just needs some sanding to remove the rasp marks and a wedge and it should be golden. The head will be getting some work, too, of course, as it needs a real edge put on it and the cheeks will need a lot of blending back to take the shoulder off any edge ground on the current geometry.

The same process shown here. I used the contact wheel on my belt grinder with a pulsing fore/aft motion to produce a smooth convex and worked it through a series of belts, down to a cork belt charged with emery polishing compound, then used it in conventional upright form to slack-belt the edge itself.
