What did you rehang today?

Got this Plumb double bit axe head at a local market today for $12. It had the original black finish but was rusted so I cleaned it up. I hung it on a handle I had laying around that had a very pitted unknown double bit axe head on it. I removed the head from that one and put it on this plumb head and secured it with a Large metal wedge from a Collins axe. It’s chopping now!

Warren old faithful cruiser. 29” ash handle made from a stave, Cherry wedge. Finished with pure walnut oil, it’s my first time using it. I wanted something completely non toxic, boiled Linseed oil messes with my skin so I am done with it. Can’t wait to sharpen it and try it out!

Hello everyone. I caught a white whale! For me anyway. Haha.
Stamped 3-1/4 and weighed 3lbs 3.2oz prior to hanging.

1947 E&S paper label, Pioneer connie:))). Next pic is comparison with an original 28" E&S helve to the right of it. This super old 28-1/2" S&N helve I chose closely resembles it I feel.

I also recently acquired a 3lb K stamp(Forest King) E&S Jersey as well. That's where I got the original haft from them. Actually I've been doing exceedingly well collecting axes recently. I'll try to post a few more. Thanks guys! Take care.:)

That is an awesome axe Josh! But, you already knew that. I really like the detail in the label, too. Someday I hope to beg, borrow or steal an axe like that to try out for a few days. That is not a pattern I have ever seen here out on the prairie except via photographs here on the Axe, Tomahawk & Hatchet Forum. Nice find!

Does this mean we need to start calling you Ahab? :^)

Finally got around to hanging my Grandfathers E&S 3# “Diamond” axe. This was his pride & joy...he was a truck driver after WW2 and drove to Maine frequently. He would pick up E&S axes when in Maine and bring them back to CT for his best friend who was a logger. My uncle had borrowed it for a while and hammered wedges with it...my grandfather was quite upset. He is passed on now, but he taught me to hang my first axe when I was about 15, saying “if you want to be a real woodsman you need to hang your own axe”. Well it’s just a Link handle I had hanging around and the grain orientation isn’t perfect but I think he would be happy.

Thank you man! No, please don't call me Ahab, because he never got his whale!
I think you'll have a hard time, even begging, to convince someone to let you swing their paper label axe!:D
Did you mean an Emerson Stevens? Or a connie?
You can find them fairly inexpensively on the 'bay.
I now need to find one of those labels so I can have an example of what it's supposed to look like. They are available!
I'm super happy with the axe, thank you.

that Pioneer is Amazing!!!
Thank you very much! I couldn't be happier, really. :D:D:D

Damnnn Josh, that's spectacular! Every xing detail. The poll is scary pristine. The profile...gonna wear out the x key on my computer. And 3 1/4 lbs as well (my favorite weight). If you chose to, you could slice through to another dimension.
Okay! I'll just slice back to 1935 so we can all order several dozen of every axe we want!
Thanks man, I'm super excited to have found one. They are, I'm sure you know, exceedingly rare. Someone got a little happy with a grinding at some point. The scratch pattern is a little odd. It appears to be a vertical belt sander if I had to put money on it. It is ever so slightly convex and 17.5° evenly across the bit.
Yeah the poll is almost untouched. It's been a very, very good axe week for me!
Thanks man!
