Yeah I put a lanyard tube in the handle. Not a tough process to do, but it's a lot of fun, and adds a bit of character.

Looks good but it's too bad the shoulder of that haft doesn't extent down to where the strap is so the strap can get a better grip on the haft.

I hate to admit it, but I'm still so new at this I had to google "Anatomy of an axe" to understand what your trying to tell me Square_peg. Still learning all the proper terminology.

That is probably my fault. I was so excited to start a new project I didn't really look at how it should be and just went with how it was on its original handle. I had to bend the strap to get it onto this new handle to when I bent it back closed over this handle I was surprised how tight it actually locks up with the handle. I don't there will be any issue with the shoulder being up high. I could probably move the strap up one more hole as well...I might give that a try when i get back from tying to get these saws.

I'd bet it took the better part of an hour to make that haft and hang that axe. Nice work!

So i was going to rehang an old pick today, but the pick needed some more time in the vinegar. Instead this one was ready so I worked on it instead.



it came out nice...i'm going to give it to a buddy of mine as a graduation gift. He is majoring in Outdoor recreation and management...only took him 10 years to grow up and get his degree.
