What did you rehang today?

This is one of a couple I finished in the past month. The first is an Artisan double bit. The head was a rusty mess but turned out pretty clean after vinegar and sanding. Two firsts on this axe, my first attempt at making my own wedge and first attempt at woodburning freehand. The wedge is cherry from a limb I harvested last year. It was a bear without the right tools but I'm happy with it. The burning is the Knights of Columbus logo. It was a gift for a friend who is ending his term as grand knight of our local council.

This is the second, and my first attempt at a pulaski. I reused the handle from a double bit I purchased at a flea market. The handle was in rough shape, had a lot of discoloration that just wouldn't sand out but it was strong and I like the idea of reusing as much as possible in a restoration. The head is a TT FSS and was in pretty decent shape already but I put it through the vinegar bath, then some light sanding and BLO. I've never had a pulaski before but I can already tell this is going to be a go-to axe. I love the weight of the head and the versatility.

You will definitely find many uses for a Pulaski. Don't get all carried away with 'knife-sharpening' it either because they thrive on roots and stumps and rocky ground where no self-respecting axe aficionado would dare to strike.

Great looking Pulaski!

Here are three that I rehung this last weekend.
Kelly True Temper Flint Edge with some deep pitting, True Temper Dynamic, and a GAB boy’s axe. The last two were hung on the handles they came with.

My wife asked me to do up an ax for her to put in her Jeep.

I picked this guy up off of eBay...it was labeled as a hatchet, but after I got it i decided it would be perfect for a shorter handled ax to fill the request. My wife isn't very big so it came out perfect for her.

Thanks for reading

Good looking Evansville Smith357. I know I am always curious as to what is under electrical tape and wound wire... Nice looking handle on that one.

I did not notice the wire until I hit it with my knife cutting off the tape. I was looking too hard at the head. :) Luckily the wire and tape were put on early.

Not sure what to make of this little hatchet. My dad picked this up for me at a flea market in Ohio and it looks like the handle might have been made of out a chair leg or some piece of furniture. I scraped alot of crud from the wood, then some light sanding. Vinegar and sanding on the head as well. The handle was too weird not to reuse, so I put it back as it was before, after making a new wedge. No markings on the head but I'd love to hear if anyone has any ideas on the handle.

Noticed this head in a pile of junk someone dumped in the desert when I was Jeepin, haha. Says "HB" and "Sweden" still pretty clear, and is in great shape. Just rehung it today, now I gotta fix the edge, what is it?
