What did you rehang today?

It's hickory, but I just left it without BLO on the main body of the helve as I wanted more contrast with the patina of the head.

It took a while but I finally figured out how to adjust everything to get this brush axe hung. I could not find any instructions on a proper way to go about it so I just experimented with different depths and angles till it looked right. the kerf is not really wedged, it has a filler block glued into place. The strap keeps the head on the tool, getting the strap placement right took the longest to figure out.

Here's my first hang, not the best but I'm pleased with the results. Put it on a House 36" octagon stick.

The head is worn but the hang is good! Actually, I'm surprised at the good overall condition of the head given what a ruin the original handle was.

Looks pretty darn good! My only niggle would be that it'd be more proportional on a 30-32" haft, but overall a clean, well executed and functional hang.

Thanks JB and Axe Master for feedback. The head is pitted pretty bad as it apparently spent a long time outdoors in the weather.
It does look out of proportion on the 36" stick. I'm 6'5" so it swings better for me on a 36.

My brother stopped by for a stay and picked up his S&N Hudson Bay.
Not a rehang but I scraped, sanded, wet, sanded(repeat), and used the sanding powder to fill some small rough spots. Applied it then let it sit in the sun between each round. Sharpened it up.
He likes it a lot.

Thought it was a handsome axe- took a couple of pictures before he finished loading his truck.

There's something that just says adventure about a good HB pattern. Love it.

Rawhytock, Nice job. I really like the handle. I tried to magnify the weight stamp, couldn't make it out. What is the head weight? Handle length?

Thanks, Bob
Thank you, this is a 1.2k or 2 3/4lbs on a 28" boys handle. Love the way this thing feels in my hand!
