Lately, Kershaw seems to be in the winner`s circle....both of my Tyrades and my ZT-350 were wicked sharp out of the box....prior to that, top honors probably go to my Cold Steel Trailmaster Bowie (first production run, Carbon V)....that sumbitch cut 3 inches of free-hanging manila rope with one swipe....
My Sg2 JYD was scary at first. I'm just now able with my SM and a belt able to get an edge better than it shipped from the factory. Truly scared me at the time. But now I want sharper and sharper.
I'd agree with those that said the Kershaw JYD II in SG2. Most of my Kershaws are impressively sharp directly from the factory, but that knife came freaky sharp out of the box!! It's ground so thin, that when I test the edge with the pad of my thumb, it makes this faint metallic humming sound like a tuning fork. Never seen anything else that sharp out of the box.
That being said, many of my spydercos are extremely sharp from the factory. They know how to put an excellent edge on their knives:thumbup:
