What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Hi, I love it !!! Is it a #14 or a #15 ?

Â

You can always tell the 14 from 15 TCs by looking at the "C" … it get much wider/fatter in the curve on the 14s. Once you recognize that difference in the font, it just jumps out whenever you look at a TC....just look at Tim's post above, with the 14 stacked on the 15...very apparent.

I only have 15s, I posted this elsewhere yesterday:

I expect there will be some talk regarding how the Lionsteel Barlow fits into this 'traditional Barlow' thread...

That is nice knife though, Jose. :)

At first I thought calling the Lionsteel Barlows "traditional" was a bit of a stretch. Some will argue the point, but Lionsteel simply took a good traditional pattern, and made better by using modern materials & manufacturing. Does it look like some of my old Barlows that I carried 65 years ago? No, but I still consider it a traditional style knife.

The Lionsteel is a traditional/modern hybrid... Good knives but not traditional in the traditional sense.

The way I see it, these Lionsteels are Barlows. They qualify as Traditional knives for this subforum.
However, I don't consider them Traditional Barlows.

But I ain't the Barlow Police. :D

Barlow police, that you certainly are not. I believe it is a self appointed position anyway. I think the lion steel qualifies as a Barlow by design but by construction obviously it’s not a traditional knife. So maybe a modern Barlow?
