What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

That ebony Barlow is perfect :)

Thank you for the exuberant praise, Mark! And thanks to all who play in this yard!
I am stoked, I must say. I'm looking forward to the feedback, after a little Coon-fingerin' and Chicken-eyein'!!

This is a great thread. I LOVE Barlow pattern knives. I think they are the best traditional folder and Mark Twain would agree with me (and TR?). I love clip blades, bone scales, and traditional large Barlow bolsters. GEC makes them the old way. I have owned unxld, Case, Tree Brand, and others over the years. I have lost a few, traded a few, and gave my nephew my keeper. This is my great love in knives. Amo hanc cultro

I can see a couple of these in my future. That is if I can find them for sale... ... when I have some money.

Same here, Ed. I'm really hoping that the universe aligns properly, so that I have knife money when these are available. One blade or two, spear or pen, whichever the case... I think I need one of these Ebony barlows!!! :D

Doc, all I can say is, "Carpe Diem"!!

Rob, I really like the "old Photo Album" picture! ("new Photoshop", I'm sure!!):D

now i think your just rubbing it in :p

Now, I wouldn't do that!!:p

It is only the truth. Someone here PMed me to ask if there would be two-blade Ebony handled Barlows, and I found there weren't any, but with a few spare sets of handles sitting around, we got them!!
The Ebony was sort of an afterthought, brought in at the last minute, and with available materials, there are only a few single blades, and very few two blades.
~20 and ~9 respectively. I understand the whole run is about 200 knives.

Wow, these really look amazing! Nice job Charlie and GEC for putting this pattern together.
I'm definitely going to be adding a few of these to my barlow collection. The 2 blade in ebony looks perfect in every way, can't wait to EDC one of those beauties!!! :D

I've been hooked ever since I saw the first pictures. I can't wait for them to get to the dealers.

I have to say Charlie that the knife pictured on the wax paper wrapper is a smart looking knife especially, with the second blade. Pretty tempting. I just might go for one of those with saw-cut bone covers.

Very nice knives Charlie and a good effort on your part with GEC.

Come on, there's GOT to be a large run of of the two-bladed ebony! That's beautiful enough to deserve a full run.
