What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Thanks for the kind words Duncan. Got real lucky on that one.

cards94 yes you can hook the end of the blade to your pants or a table edge works too. I believe the design dates back to the civil war era. I don't use it much. I just open it with the long pull nick.

Thanks. I dig it and I'm looking at the Boys Knife with the one arm.

Sawcut bone handles, carbon steel blades and stamped bolsters.

Camillus made some fine knives in the day and yours is certainly one of them.

Outstanding example and that old knife has tons of character!!:thumbup::thumbup::)

Very nicely photographed as well Al.

I wonder what the next run of Barlows will bring. :p

If I follow the so-called schedule, the next TC Barlow should have a Sheepfoot main, and jigged bone handles. (I have on occasion run off on tangents though!)
If I stick to it, Bill might run Radio Scouts at the same time. That would be a couple of nice ones I'd say!

Charlie,
I like the sound of that schedule... A Sheepfoot TC Barlow with jigged bone really grabs my attention. :)
