What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Thanks Stephan. Yes it has a long pull on the main. I will post picks when it arrives. I also picked up a Boker and a Remington from Jon Slider and will post them too when they arrive.

Just picked this one up in pretty good shape.

Where can I read more about that Barlow Mark?? I have not seen one like that but I like that stamp on the bolster!

Hi jk. It is a Hibbard Spencer & Bartlet OVB hardware knife. I am trying with the help of Jon Slider to find out who made them. My hunch is it was made by Camillus but I'm not 100% sure.

Both made in USA, both well built, both get the same job done, both have black wood handles, only one will fit in your pocket, I think I will carry the spey blade TC vs the Emasculator.

My dads first real post! :) He's been lurking for quite some time now but isn't the best with computers and has never joined and posted on a forum before. I helped him put this post together today after he showed me the picture and asked for my help, but the words and picture are all his own doing. We met Charlie at the Oregon Knife Show last April and my dad picked up his first Charlow from him at that show. He caught the fever after that experience and has been buying TC Barlows and GEC patterns in general any chance he gets lol. Welcome aboard dad!

Jake

I'll throw in a picture of my spey Charlow I picked up from Charlie at the same show i mentioned above. Was pretty happy to find this one as yellow bone is my favorite.

As a late comer to the TC Barlows, is there a reference to what models were released in what year? I'm on the hunt for a couple and I'd like to know if they are attainable. I'd also like to look at every single one of them. :D

Nice knife, and nice tins!!
The next run of TC Barlows will be early in 2015, but they show up for sale from time to time, I understand.

Between the Spey blade and the Emasculator, I may have nightmares tonight. ;) Welcome to the forum!
