What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Oh, and Fred, that red sawcut bone clip point there is all dirty. You'd better get rid of it before it spreads to the others! (sneaks off to hide in Fred's trash can...)
Thanks for the tip. Meet me at Primble's trash can and we'll split the loot. :D

Congratulations Willydigger! That is very  I'm glad you found your grail!! You now have all the 2 blade Clips with the long pull!!
But the 1 you are featuring is actually the Saddle Brown version, the Antique Amber you already have. It is the other reddish one that is still mint. The one with the patina is the Rust Red version. The Saddle Brown is the one you said you wanted that I broke the tip off of using it as a screw driver!:D
GREAT collection!!
Dave
Thanks Dave. Google says the Saddle Brown in the darker one and Amber is the lighter one.

Now I wait and watch for the next Long Pull clip/pen.

Couple of speys. I think this is a really underrated blade shape.

I carried this lovely piece today, I always feel great when I carry such a neat knife...... but for the first time I havent got to use it yet ( today) as I have been rebuilding the brakes on the rear of my dodge, so the work involved didnt call for it.

The Barlows Robeson put out after WWII, I believe, were pretty interesting. I think they dropped the older stamped bolsters, and in keeping with their "pocketeze" philosophy, streamlined the knives, keeping the back corner of the tang fairly low and rounding and thinning the bolster, and overall shape.
Here you will see their signature "strawberry" bone. You will also see a Terrier, one of their secondary brands, with brown bone.

For comparison, there is a

>GEC's WLST next
>Ulster
>Robeson
>Terrier
>Robeson
>Robeson
Queen-made Robeson (modern).
Robeson postwar, made them with at the least 3 of the usual blades,
spear, clip and sheepfoot. I'm no Robeson expert. If anyone has an older model, maybe they could post it here.
The rounded bolsters, and slim proportions make for un-obtrusive carry.

Great group shot Charlie. That Ulster is just like my fist knife. That knife was more than a knife for me. As a kid that knife was a right of passage, an admittance to a different status. I remember carrying it on the school bus and to school, my fourth grade teacher, Mr. Riddle, admired it and showed his Stockman. Times have changed, things that were common in rural Colorado are now unacceptable. I appreciate you showing that group shot, even if it did cause a flood of nostalgia.

Thanks for the comments and floods of nostalgia,
Bobby, Paul, Philll, and Chris!
Nostalgia's a good thing!!
:D

Beautiful group. Is there such a thing as an Ambassador membership Charlie? I expect you could be the first :)

Wow, Charlie, the Terrier and the Strawberry bone models are just GORGEOUS! Thank you so much for sharing another piece of your amazing collection. You just keep pulling these rabbits out of your hat, don't you?!?
