What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Per Rob's request... ;)

Beautiful Dan !! :eek::D

And I don't think we lust for these, it's much more accurate that we're all completely strung out on pocket knives and chasing the charlow dragon!!! 😆

:thumbup::thumbup::D:D

I agree Dan, soup bone is super killer, but my favorite cover for a tradiational is sawcut bone. Love that copperhead PPP man!

Just thought I'd post up my whole collection since I added a couple recently :)

Excellent collection Jon!!! :thumbup::thumbup::)

I love this picture-- a thoughtful and well-chosen selection.

I couldn't agree more! Nice bunch!! The bases are covered!!

Excellent collection Jon!!! :thumbup::thumbup::)

Thanks fellas :)

I was very fortunate to find the specific ones that spoke to me the most from the get go. I had a charlow-goal and achieved it in spades :D

Now, as I've said before... the rest are just plain gravy!! :) :D :)

Outstanding collection Jon....think red eye gravy for Christmas.

Forgive my ignorance, folks, but I thought I knew what a copperhead pattern was. But Dan's Charlow doesn't fit my "definition".
Why is his called a copperhead?:confused: Thanks for any light you're willing to shine on my aging brain.

The reference is to GEC's Copperhead Bone color. Here it is on a 22 Magnum.

Right. I should have specified, copperhead is the color of the bone dyeing. Mine is a particularly dark one.

Thanks for the helpful information. I probably should have been able to figure that out from context, since the knives in this thread are all barlows.

(But this "unfortunate" terminology, with the same term used for both a pattern and a color, reminds me of some mathematical terminology where the geniuses that dream it up seem to be trying to confuse people. E.g., in mathematical topology, there are closed sets and open sets and sets that are both open and closed:eek:)

I had some time between applying coats of stain to a closet door so thought I'd assemble my TC Barlow collection for a group shot:thumbup:

The true users are the Ebony Clip/Pen, Walnut Clip/Pen and the Walnut Sheepfoot/Pen:)

Paul - beauties - all of them, Love seeing the line up Sir!

Judging by the patina, I'd say the ebony clip/pen.

Sean - :thumbup:

Sean and Mark - - Paul many times has stated the Ebony Clip to be "the one"

A beautiful old Keen Kutter Mark. :eek::thumbup::)

These collections of TC Barlows are fantastic, but I love my single TC.

Nice single TC - I am curious, did the knife come that color or has there been a modification to the color? :confused::)

Nice collection Paul! :thumbup: Now the big question......which one is your favorite?

Mark, the Ebony Clip/Pen is truly a favorite but the ones I have been gifted hold a very special place in my collection:thumbup:

Judging by the patina, I'd say the ebony clip/pen.

That is the one, the long pull Clip/Pen that flips my switch:)
