What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Have one of these pretty soup bones heading my way :). Looking forward to seeing how the bone looks. After missing out on the preorder I feel pretty fortunate to have snagged one in the mad dash tonight.

Just got mine in. Wow its my first TC barlow ever and what a TC Barlow it is. Absolutely perfect in every way.

I'm very excited. I thought I was out of luck until I got the email from Mike. Thank you Charlie and GEC for crafting this beauty.

As per Charlie's instructions:

Oil the Joints - check!
Savour the Patina - soon, soon my pretty!

Congrats! Ordinarily I'm not a wood fan but that is beautiful stuff.

LOL I was excited to get the red soup now these rosewoods come and rain on my parade! Just kidding. YOu can really sense that this re soup is what Charlie's been dreaming of for a while. I think it does very well against its case counterparts.

The dust has settled, so the official count is:
>154 Red soup bone Clips
> 2 Red soup bone Clips (seconds)
>11 Brazilian Clips
> 7 Brazilian Spears
> 6 Brazilian Sheepfoots

My apologies to those who didn't get one. If you are really keen, I'll bet many will change hands over the next 6 months. I make as many as I can, but I have limited funds and an old body no longer suited to big business!!:o
Over the next year, I predict there will be at least 5 more runs of Barlows, with up to twice as many knives as this run in them. This Barlow thread always has clues as to when they are coming, well in advance!!

If you have patience, you will get what you want or need!

I have waited for decades, to find certain knives!! In the meantime, my kids have grown up, and my grandchildren are doing the same!!:)

After 25 years or so, I found my first near-mint Remington Bullet knife! Now one of my friends owns it!! You might be next!!!:D

Look at the bottom Barlow (I know, bad pic's) It is bone handled and old.....made in Germany. It's a midget Barlow.

Damn how did I miss those. Now I'm starting to think this is a sick joke being played on me. I guess it's not meant to be afterall. I can't look at another 2nd anniversary TC barlow without flipping out I think

I felt that way about the 3rd Cut Stag Barlows. If I find one some day, then I'll have a party. If not... Well, my search has actually led me to another Charlow I never even thought about. And I think it may be nicer than the 3rd Cut Stag of my dreams!

So hang in there, friend. Maybe there is an Anniversary Charlow out there, or maybe there is something even better around the next corner!

Charlie...."Patience is a Virtue"..... great advice from a well respect man. Thank you for all you have brought forth in this world my friend. I am looking forward to your next project.

In Traditionals, well for me there are some absolutely stunning Threads with just outstanding knives, such Threads like Old Knives, Show Us Your Stag, Elusive Schrades, Just a Picture, Made In Sheffield, Charlies SFO's, but THIS Thread is my ultimate favourite.

The knives, the passion - but also what I think everyone is feeling is the man behind the knives as well - and the way Charlie has soaked into each and every one of his knives...and we kinda like such a massively strong Traditional connection of Charlie that he has developed into these knives...so I am just smitten with these knives- that Brazilian Wood is simply amazing.

Mark, that wee little barlow looks a tad familiar!
