What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Was pleased and fortunate to score this TC anniversary model recently and just got it in the mai today. Fit and function of these is incredible. Certainly with these Rosewood handle slabs a stellar TC to mark and celebrate the rollout anniversary of Charlie's design genius and acumen. Hard to photograph the color nuances and subtitles of the grain pattern but in person quite stunning. Thanks Charlie and looking forward to the new forthcoming SF model.

Congratulations, Luger! I feel the same way about my walnut spear Charlow. They are all great knives, but some of them really prove the point: how special are these TC Barlows!

I took delivery of an old saw-cut bone Ulster Barlow today, one that had eluded me for a good while. I spent about 3 hours cleaning and fixing her up to my liking - the main blade tip had about 1/16 inch of the tip missing and I re-pointed that blade, then did a good amount of rubbing to satin down the shiny finished and peppered blades. Although it was never advertised or pictured to show the knife personalized, I noticed the backsprings had been engraved to suit a previous owner named Dave. I immediately thought of Earl and started laughing upon discovery of it.

Beautiful Ulster Primble...early on I used to mark my name on the backsprings of knives I owned...not anymore though:)

Dave sure is a dandy, Primble! I'd say you found a gem for sure. Gotta love those bolsters...mmmmmmm

Thank you my friend - I have drooled over your example of this knife for a long time. Your pic was in my Knives I need to find folder! :D

Thats a nice old Barlow - good fix on the tip too by the way Primble Sir! Love that Bone on that Ulster - reminds me of my Grand-Daddy Ulster Divine Barlow...

Or on the smaller Barlow - which was gifted to me by a awesome guy........

I have loved both guitars and knives all my life; what a wonderful confluence, in this particular piece.

Thank you to Charlie, and everyone at GEC.
