What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Taking some advice and savoring the patina.

Thank you Mark. First day I have really worked on knife shots. Lots of balls to juggle shooting these.

I have really been admiring all those nice Spear Blade TC's the last couple of days. I thought I would take by one and only Spear Blade TC in Ebony out for a visit:)

Wow, I really like the stamp in that NYKC Bolster.
+1
I love going back and rereading this thread to look at all the old Barlows. The old bolsters were great! And I think my favorite is the NY Knife Co. bolster.

A worthy first post, Roy!! Welcome to Bladeforums!!!

I've collected old Barlows for a while, and I agree with you and Dr. Scott, NYK's Bolster stamp is one of the best!!

Where have I seen that knife before, Mark??
Perry:confused:

:D:D

It does belong in Mark's collection now, where it's finally home, Charlie. But guess where I bought it,,,,,OKCA of course!

That knife is well traveled then!
Nice of you to let it go, Perry.

Another TC arrived today thanks to my knife handling buddy Paul - Paul thank you so very very much my friend - Paul also included a great old Case xx - but I will have to wait until the weekend to take some decent shots - Paul THANK YOU my friend...I owe you so much,
this box was a very very special one to me because it contains 3 special HJ's- it was sent to me by Paul - and just a day or so later an extremely special TC arrived at Pauls House for me

I will wait until that arrives before I can show you guys, here is a Stews Blade to join the Cory's lovely TC Stew's Blade that he gifted me
I must apologise for the sad photo's as its starting to get quite dark - so it was a very quick indoors shot.

Charlie- at work this morning we had a great talk about the Stews Blade - along with Pauls accompanying Old Case XX one armed Razor - and how they came about to making that particular pattern - the people at work always gather around to see my knives when they arrive - What a beautiful morning it was - joining this great TC were three hard to get HJ'S of Charlies that pump up my HJ collection even more so -in Charlies SFO's Thread by Robin.

Fantastic stuff Duncan, you and Paul are Legends my friend :)

It's great that your workmates appreciate your knife collecting, Duncan!
I dare say that if you whipped out a handful of steel in some places, a lot of cowering and gnashing of teeth would occur!
For Christmas I sent a Stew's to each, of my brother-in-law and sister-in-law. Stew being their father, it was a nice surprise for both of them!

That must have been something Charlie when they opened the knife and seen there father's name on the blade. I got goose-bumps thinking about it!:D

Thanks Charlie- What the people at work loved was me telling them about Stew and then showing them the Label - with Stews Photograph = so I cant imagine how fantastic that would have been for the Family Charlie- as I said to my workmates-what a very special thing to do!! Joanne must have been really proud to see all this taking shape so well done there Charlie.

Thank you for the kind comments guys and you are right - Paul really is a class act.
