What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Primble - Red Jiggy! You guessed it. Stalker. :D

Biscuit - That was a custom modified Sheepsfoot. Glenn added ziricote wood scales and a lanyard tube. I'm a bead carver and I wanted a show piece. Since then I got bit by the clip point bug.

Very nice. Glenn does nice work. He has a couple of knives of mine on the waiting list. Your other pic made it look like a Spearpoint.
That lanyard bead of yours is awesome! I love it. :D

Wow! I so like good Barlow collections like that. The picture just adds to the wonder. Maybe someday...

While I was doing some Barlow picture-taking, a creative thought hit me... hey, let's see if I can get the mandala optical illusion effect... you know, when you focus your eyes on the Daddy Barlows at the centerpoint and then move your head closer to the screen and the outter Barlows start to spin?

See it?

Yeah, me neither :D

You're right Duncan! Them valleys are what it's all about, whether red or Amber or even saw cut!
Great pics my friend!

I just wanted to say a BIG thank you to the inimitable Dave "Knowtracks". As most of you already know, Dave is an exceptional individual. Dave was kind enough to act as my proxy and grab a few Barlows for me at the recent OKCA knife show, because I was unable to attend. Because of his efforts, I am now the proud owner of this gorgeous third cut stag Barlow. Thank you Dave!!

And of course, a big thanks goes out to Charlie too! The TC is truly a special knife. As I sit here with other #15 boys knives and barlows in front of me, there is just something about the TC, unlike other knives, that has a life and a soul to them. I'm not trying to sound corny or get brownie points here, it really is the truth. Thanks for taking the time to write a quick note on one of my tubes.

That is one sweet looking 3rd cut Al! The secret stash continues to surprise! Atta boy Dave:thumbup:

Thanks Perry! I have grown a particular fondness for the cover materials like the third cut, the soup bones and some of the woods, where each knife has it's own unique character.

That's a beauty Al. I'll bet the picture, as beautiful As it looks, does not capture the true beauty. Congrats on a very nice piece. Good job Dave.

I hear ya Al, me too! I like the ones that vary from their brothers much more than the basic cover materials. Now a variation on a cover, that's a whole other kettle of TCs!

Thank you Bob! Hope you're feeling better.

With you there Perry. I've REALLY been enjoying the photos of your soup bones you've been posting! So much unique character to them both!!:thumbup:

Thank you Al! It's funny how, at least with the soups, that the more distressed they look, they more I like them. Honestly I think it's the marriage of an older looking cover on a new knife that does it for me.

Totally agree Perry. I've had people tell me they don't like soup bone, and I'm like, Whaaa?? I guess it's an acquired taste and they just don't get it. I actually don't get, that they don't get it, LOL.

Today was a good day

Cool photo Jason! Nothing beats a nice day in the PNW with a TC in tote.
