What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

While I was doing some Barlow picture-taking, a creative thought hit me... hey, let's see if I can get the mandala optical illusion effect... you know, when you focus your eyes on the Daddy Barlows at the centerpoint and then move your head closer to the screen and the outter Barlows start to spin?

See it?

Yeah, me neither :D

A well put together collection. Very nice.

That die job really turned out nice, Primble.

Sho nough is purty, Rob! Are you gonna carry it?
Perry

Thank you guys for the comments. I like it much better than before.

Perry - I put a thin coat of satin clear sealer over the dyed stag and have been carrying it often, lately.

I never carried it before that. ;):)

It is difficult to capture the exact color of it. It is very similar in color to a few old honey bone Schrade Cut. Co. Barlows that I have.

That's a great idea to clear coat it! Shouldn't ever change now and makes you feel better about carryin it.

Cool! Your knife's a star! Are you going to make it a user? A good, traditional Barlow develops a real nice patina.

Comments appreciated Perry and Mark.:thumbup::)

Scott- that clip TC looks like an antique knife.:thumbup::)

Beautiful patina on that one, Scott! Hard to beat a single blade clip. I have that same Day's Work in smooth yeller. Yours is taken on some nice age over the last two years.

Primble, did you stain your Palo Santo? Almost looks like Walnut. Looks really good!

My Tan Jigged Bone Sheepsfoot is in Tidioute right now being transformed into a light colored cocobolo. Hopefully it looks like yours!!!!

No stain. I like the factory color on it a lot. Can't wait to see your Cocobolo TC Barlow !!:D

I bought two of them (to see which I liked best) and this is my backup Palo Santo, kindly traded to me by Bob (Bigbiscuit):

I got this African Blackwood Sheepfoot from across the pond, a few weeks back. Rupert (bearsquared) kindly notified me of it's existence and bought it for me after I agreed on the sale price. He insisted that I not send any money until it arrived safely in my hands. He had it shipped to him and took pictures for me and then shipped it on to me. It was the lone sheep (a black sheep ) that I needed to complete my sheep collection. I think his money was tied up for about two weeks. He is tops in my book !! ;):)
