What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

The story of the Soup bones:
I arrived at GEC to set up my table for the Rendezvous, and Bill handed me a box of knives!
He mumbled something about having a little trouble with these knives. Imagine my surprise when I saw 30 some soup bones in there. I thought I was too late to add soup to my order a couple of months ago!! There were 4 variations, and before I could stuff more then a couple into my pockets, and other hiding places, they were flying out the door!! Like a flock of crows!!
The list is in a box that I shipped to myself, but there were a few of each; Ancients, Pop Scouts, New Days with one and two blades!
Duncan, some of them had that singular TC etch!!
There were none left to send to dealers so attendees lucked out on the surprise. No-one was more surprised than me!!
BTW, the Ancient "buttons" were just to hand out at the Rendezvous, so there are none in the tubes.

Great stuff Charlie- the singular TC does make a statement all on it's own - and I am Rapt for you and the lucky ones because its great to hear that you get a surprise like this throughout the fantastic hard work you are doing Charlie- The Rendezvous just sounds fantastic!

Great score Philllll.

Thats what collecting is all about to think YES!!!!!!! :)

Just got the scratted bone in today! Just as nice as all the rest of them. You guys have some great knives and some great pictures!

You take my words right out of my mouth .
I did not reply before as
1) wanted to remain polite and friendly with our Aussie friends :o
2) being not English, I care not to interfere into Commonwealth affairs
BUT, I can't prevent from remembering my most boring days when invited to watch a cricket match, forgot the teams since. I slept for the day while I could have been in Gus Kuhn's shop or at Pride & Clark's. Worse, my friend's team lost, so the stop at the pub was shortened and I did not hear the bell!
I definitely prefer when they are 15 playing. :D

LOL! :D

Great pic Jake, and that sure is a lovely knife, fantastic how they've turned out, even better than I'd hoped :)

Here are my 2 latest thanks to Markesharp. Beautiful bone handled Boker and an Ulster with a great bolster stamp.

Love the bolster stamps on those two with the tree brand and the Ulster as well. That long pull spear point is sweet augie! :D

That Ulster is mighty fine looking Augie!!

Thanks for the kind words Jack...I'm working on my picture taking. Limited to only my phone and some editing tricks!

Just flicking through some pics, and came across this one of my Anniversary Charlow. In the background is the remains of Joseph Tyzack's Green Lane Works.

Ron- Great old sheepfoot you got there! Hopefully you didn't have to send Primble home with an extra arm & leg to get it! :D

Steve- Beautiful ancient barlow you got there! An excellent example to have as your first TC!
