What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Please excuse me if this is not a 100% Traditional Barlow, but CNRFCL ;):D

I thought I might use it to open my Soda Pop tomorrow while I watched some football! :D

Several pages ago, someone asked if there were barlows with cap ends. I was at an antique store a couple weeks ago and I actually saw one of these in a case. I couldn't make it out to well, but it was certainly a barlow with a cap end, and what appeared to be red plastic covers. Doing some looking around online, I found a Hammer Brand barlow that is similiar, but the covers are different.

And no, I didn't buy it. They were asking $25.

Finally got around to snapping a couple pictures of the Scratted bone barlow. Really like this knife. The antique finish was a nice touch for something a little different.

Found one I've been looking for now for quite awhile, a Queen Barlow, steel construction with bone handles. It seems like most of the Queen Barlow's are Delrin and aluminum frame. Sarah has one of these steel ones, the only other one I have seen.

If I'm reading the tang stamp charts correctly this one dates from 1932 to 1955. It is in nearly unused condition but has picked up some patina from age.

In 1972 Queen came out with a 50th anniversary Barlow with the same tang stamp except being dated 1922-1972, the construction is a dead ringer to the earlier Barlow. The 50th anniversary knife also has a Drake Well etch on the blade.

I don't go to the flea market often enough, but today I was able to go and picked up this Tip Top barlow. I've wanted one for awhile.

Augie - That is the nicest of the old Queen Barlows!
