What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

I thought I would post this Old Boy in here with all of these glamorous Barlow's just to change it a bit! ;):rolleyes::eek::D

Couple more well used carried Barlows, a Case red bone spear that must have been someones favorite knife, used and carried but not abused, the bone on the one side looks like flames. The back springs have turned black.

The other is an early KA-BAR, maybe pre 1950. The bone is beautiful in the light, it is a mottled very dark green,almost black, my pics can't capture it.
