Your 494 serves as a reminder, Ben: Has anybody ever seen a Boker 494 sheepsfoot+pen Barlow with jigged bone instead of sawcut? Most every one I've seen has been sawcut bone or Delrin, depending on age, but I finally managed to swing a 494 for a reasonable price, and I'm starting to wonder if the jigged bone "variant" I received isn't a rehandle. It looks right, and I can find no evidence of any repinning, but neither can I find any evidence that Boker ever made "standard" 494s in jigged bone. Furthermore, the curve of the sheepsfoot blade on mine (which is stamped "494" on the tang, but nothing else, like so many other Bokers) seems to be a tad bit more rounded than pretty much every one I've seen before it, all of which have displayed those classical straight-curve-straight lines. There is no indication that the blade was reground or that it has anything but the factory edge on it (needs to be put to stone, but I want to settle my questions first).
I'll take a photo later for comparison, but my suspicion is acute regarding this knife. It's nice, solid, and for the most part resembles every other Boker-made Barlow I have, but this one has me scratching my head a bit.
