What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Very nice CC's Nifebrite and Mike.

Lloyd, wonderful old Schrades.

Atiger, nice bone on that Camillus.

CDS, really hard to beat a Case Appaloosa or red bone, beautiful handle material. Very well made knives that hold up for decades, pull can be a little heavy when new, may be why I rarely find an old Case Barlow that has weak snap or wobble even after years of hard use.

Found another nice red bone 1940 to 1964, like new condition.

An interesting difference to another 1940 to 64 I have is the location of the main blade nail nick.

Another recent addition is this Blue Grass, looks to be another Utica made knife,

Some fantastic Barlow finds, Augie! I'm not sure which I like more, the two red bone Cases or the two Appy ones. Currently my only Case red bones are both early '70s but they are in similar condition to your new finds, so I can't help but baby them (and yes, all of my Case Barlows have that same firm 7+ pull you described).

I have picked up a few interesting Barlows in recent week but I have not found much free time at home to photograph them and post them here. I'll try to get everything picture perfect for the weekend if at all possible. Looking forward to more of everybody's finds!

I love that Sawcut. It's a lot more random than I'm used to seeing. Looks like they actually left the sawmarks on the bone from when they took the soup Bone slab off...

NICE Tim!!!, both the picture and the WONDERFUL duo (half hidden):D GREAT pair of Barlows there:thumbup: hope you and Remy are well:)

John (Augie), you have found the fountain of youthful Barlows!!
Very nice!!

Hey Charlie I just wanted to say I thought Rag Bone was a great pick for the name of the new cover's you got comming out. I cant wait to get my hand's on one.:D

Thanks Al! Coming from you that is quite a compliment. I know you have quite a number of outstanding Schrade Cut Co examples that are a treat to behold!::thumbup:

Haha I see you caught that Paul :) Thank you my friend and Rémy and I are doing well.
We're almost finally done with a 2 year long move. Onward to new beginnings~

GEC is now ahead of schedule, and the LICK CREEK Barlows are in assembly!!
Took me by surprise - I am scrambling to write an intro-rant for the back label!!
We might see a finished example by tomorrow!!!!!!

My offspring used to say OMG! I don't know what they say now!
