What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

I agree Luger - That TC of LastRodeo's is a beaut for sure!

Well, I dont get to see much of the knives I have been buying - my North Dakota Office has a lot of my older ones there :-) - Thank you once again Paul my friend for all your help there matey..

I bought these two nice I*XL's a wee while agao, and just got a chance to take some very very rushed I-Phone shots- which to be honest do the knives NO justice whatsoever - but I just dont have time to do anything about that right now....

I am especially Rapt with the Twin Bladed Barlow- this knife has never been sharpened in it's lifetime!, yes the blades have not been well looked after at all, but the Deep Saw - Cut Bone is ( in life) a deep Brown - just Lovely, The pins are Hammered, the walk and talk is simply fantastic, a lovely crisp snap!
The Bolsters are Iron- a great Barlow.

the Single certainly has had use, The Bone is not matched all that well - but this doesnt disturb me - one side is a lighter beautiful Golden Honey, the other is a beautiful Antique Yellow, again the Walk and Talk is superb and the Snap is a delight to listen to!
I am not to sure if done intentionally but the Blade is Convexed - now slightly blunt but it's going to sharpen to be a Scalpel!

As with the two Bladed Barlow- The Pins are Hammered, Both knives have no half stops, and both knives hail from the same era of which I am thinking 1940's possibly slightly earlier.

Both are as they cam to me, but by the time I have finished with some Mineral oil and a rag, I can make these knives look a good 20% better, and with some decent photos - I am sure you will appreciate seeing them as I do in " the flesh ".
Apologies about the bad photo's - I actually HATE that, I will get better ones up soon.

Duncan, nice additions to your collection, I really like the 2 blade I*XL, I agree, those blades are unsharpened and have seen little to no use, great Barlow!

Those are VERY nice finds Duncan :)

Superb! Now crossing my fingers for a Christmas miracle. Ok, a little dramatic I guess. Just a early reserve email will do. :)

Very nice Charlie, the bone with the line in the bolster reminds me of an old Schrade.

There is a slight difference from past clip blade TC Barlows. Anyone spot it yet??
