What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Souprise! Udon know how Peased I was to Fish out this Brothtaking blade, it makes Miso happy. Maybe it was Stewpid of me, but I Soupose I didn’t Bayleaf I’d ever find one given their little Stock. Not to Curry favor, but Charlie and GEC struck a Bouillon with this Soupreme example, they really Ladled it on. I was simply Bowled over when it arrived, and at Bisque of sounding like i’ve lost my Noodle, I will treasure it Pho-ever.

All started well, then the street was like a small river and to finish with hail hitting my windows so strongly I feared they'd broke! Since the temps are a bit lower and much more bearable, with always a nice little wind.
I hope there won't be fires in BC like last year and you get some rain soon.
I have found a neat summer pant with a 5th pocket tucked in the right pocket, large enough for a Boy's knife to stand upright and a button to keep it closed and attach the chain. Wanted to get anoher one but the time to go and see they were all gone. I wonder how many knives are going to be hidden in that pocket! :)

Been a while since I last got a new barlow. And the latest one is not really very "new" either, as it's an Ulster 10OT from somewhere in the 1960s-1970s. Took me a long time to find a nice one, but I'm really happy that I finally have a barlow that says "barlow" right there on the bolster! :D

And the Ulster fits in really nicely with the other ones I have so far. That's bone (jigged and sawcut), Delrin and wood covers taken care of for now. Still room there for stag and maybe micarta, some day.

That’s a very nice Ulster 10OT! :)

Does anybody have a 2017 TC Barlow with oil stain bone covers? Could you share a pic?

I was reviewing the GEC 2017 production totals and they list this knife with only 10 having been produced.

Those covers sound interesting.

Thanks

I think that was the 'storm bone' that CC did a giveaway for one of them.
With only 10 made those probably go into the serious 'complete collections'

Ramrodmb thanks for sharing!

I agree - that’s a serious collection knife.

Attractive covers though. I know Charlie has mentioned that sometimes GEC throws in some “surprise covers” when regular cover materials don’t make up the whole SFO.

I have a 2017 Gabon Ebony that was my first TC. I love it because it has a nice pinchable 5-ish pull with great W&T out of the tube.

Yes I believe that was the storm bone. I was very happy to receive this one from Charlie in his give away.
