What Makes A HOG?. . . And Other Important Questions Answered!!!!!

Okay, so I took inventory (big mistake) and found that I currently have 80 pieces of Busse, Swamprat and Scrapyard obtained over the past two years. Holly  freakin' crap. How they hell did that happen???

Now granted some of those are multiples for resale down the road to fund more purchases, and include some that I'm sure I'll swap out, but at least half are long term keepers. That also doesn't include the ones I bought and sold because they didn't suit me or because one of the Three Amigos dangled some new piece of shiny sharpness in front of my eyes that I liked better than the last piece of shiny sharpness. My own fault. You guys warned me that this was a damned sickness.

Even with that, that I would never have considered myself to be a Hog, nor would I have even thought of approaching Jerry to be considered. In my eyes, I am still not worthy. I will likely never make it to a show. I will never buy $10-20K at a pop like some. I will never have the knowledge to share that others have. But occasionally I'll drop a chunk of the green stuff if the right pieces come along (Muk, Muk, Muk.) and if I can hide it from my bosslady. Occasionally I will get around to posting a picture or relating a story. Still nothing Hogworthy.

But... but.. it is so Super Cool to know that the bossman thinks otherwise, and is generous enough to grant me and others the status for this event and hopefully for others like it. The result? Where I might have bought one, I will now buy a few. And I bet I'm not alone in saying that.

We greatly improve our stack and Jerry greatly improves his stack of loyal customers.

Thanks Jerry! As soon as daylight makes itself available again I'll get a pic out. Now to finalize plans for Blade.......

Okay everyone.

I have done my best to answer the e-mails regarding HOGDOM:)

HOWEVER I need to get ready for the ganza:thumbup:

So if you send me a e-mail and you do not get a response tonight RELAX...(Regarding HOG statis)

We will take care of it:thumbup:

The HOG MUK will not be ready for 8-12 weeks after 03/10/2011 so give me time...PLEASE:thumbup:

XOXO,
Amy-0

I always said it was the attitude that made a HOG not quantity. And remember the MAMA SOW always wins in the pig pen - don't get in my way at the trough. But otherwise I am a pushover - just ask OP.

The first part ... certainly true.

Pushover?

Not that I've ever noticed!! Well, maybe after I've known her for a few more decades ... :)

Well said! I'm not attracted to Busse just 'cause of the awesome knives, but also, in large part, because of the people behind the company as well as many of the fine folks here - they really make you feel as if you're part of a family.

I can understand Jerry's point of view but I can also totally see where Randucci is coming from. While I think it's awesome that he's welcoming all of us into the fold, I'm not quite sure yet if I will be taking him up on his offer or not. As much as I have admired many of the old HOGs and thought how great it would be to be a part of the scene, circumstances just didn't allow it to happen and I kind of feel like (based on my understanding of what constitutes a true HOG) I haven't really earned or been deserving of the honor (not yet, at least...;)).

Agreed. From what I've learned about being a HOG over the last year,it's not my time yet. I thank Jerry for the kind offer though. Heck ,w/ all those fancy handles ,I didn't recognize a lot of the knives I already own that are available in the Ganza.

So even if some Old Hogs feel like Jerry is lowering his standards I hope us newbies will be treated with the same friendliness that characterizes this forum in general, and that makes it such a fun place to hang out.

Trust me, you are welcomed!

Jerry I just want to say 'Thank you very much'!

All of the interactions I have had with Busse (the wonderful, kind, and personable Amy), Eric over at the Swamp, and Renee at Scrap Yard have been great and this gesture by you just further affirms my belief that you guys are a family that I am happy to deal with.
This offer is great, being out the country and a student it is kind of hard getting to the shows (for now :) ) and to be included in Hog-status is something I truly appreciate.

So, thanks again and I hope to one day shake your hand.

Alex

I edited it because it was a personal attack that warranted a serious infraction. I didn't want to see our friend Guyon get an infraction, so I edited it. . . . 'Nuff said.

And, you are correct Tim, you are not allowed to "post what you want without being worried if it will be censored/edited" . . . Certainly not if it violates BF rules.

If you have any further complaints that you would like to make, feel free to contact me privately at jerry@bussecombat.com and keep it off of our forum.

Jerry

Ever wonder why you don't see many of the older Busse collectors post anymore?

I don't wonder why, I know why. And the reason doesn't have anything to do with Busse as a company or the quality of the knives they make. :(

You know, I've always felt that my Busse and Bussekin purchases are more than just knives and that Busse, Swamprat and Scrapyard are more than just knife companies. Whether it's Ganza's, LE's, Test Team edition, prototypes, or its famous "two week" delivery times, there's something that's always been a little bit off kilter about Busse, and their customers.

But that's what makes the people here so unique, and this such a fun place to hang out. And at the end of the day it doesn't make a difference if you're a hog, a sow, a piglet, a dog or a rat we mostly seem to get along.

I can understand that some of the true Hogs, people who have been posting for years, and who have been so generous in sharing their knowledge with us, are miffed that their elite ranks have suddenly been opened up to a bunch of young piglets.

However, there are an awful lot of us who, due to finances, work and family commitments, or simply geography, are never going to be able to make it to a blade show or knob creek. For us, the internet is the only way we can participate in this community.

So I really hope nothing changes and Jerry's act of generosity doesn't create dissension in the ranks. Ultimately its you old hogs that are the heart and soul of this forum. And just think how much fun you'll have continuing to dupe new hoglets in upcoming ganza's.:)

Piglets RULE :D

Zombieland Rule #2 - The Double Tap (order 2 of everything).
