Exercise physiologist/biomechanist by training. Developed a system for pain management and injury prevention which I delivered to businesses all over Australia for 15 years. Semi retired 8 years ago and went bush with the intention of writing the great Australian novel. Business was like the mafia - it kept pulling me back.

Finally got around to finishing a book (not the great aussie novel - but it's a start). It's being published in 6 months and the wait is excruciating.

I met someone at a party recently and they asked 'what do you do?' I hesitated for a moment before replying 'I'm a writer'. Still getting used to that idea.

mechanical & electrical engineering student & work summers as a lifeguard.

I was a helicopter logger/oil camp helicopter mechanic until last year. Now I am a quality control inspector for the same company. Still can't get used to the desk!

Retired Army Colonel, currently a Food Scientist and manager of a portion of the research and development and new product development for the largest frozen potato and appetizer company in the world (yet I'm still just a humble guy!)

I'm a Chemist for an Environmental Lab and my knives find uses in food prep (at home, and for lunch) opening boxes and mail, an occasional Tygon tube, and some yard work. Mostly they just sit around and look pretty on my desk.

Well it is very interesting to read this thread. Some people have very interesting jobs. I was not going to post, but what they hay.

I am 42 and disabled. Been on SSD for two years. Have not worked for almost three years. I won't go into the list of what is wrong as that has nothing to do with this thread. I use to do maily maintenance work. Jack of trades and master of none. I really enjoyed fisxing things. Could normally figure out how to fix things I had never seen before. Used knives a lot over the years. Now a days I just use them to open mail and packages. And I try to find little things around the house I can us one of my SAK's to fix. A screw that needs tightening, ect.... Or for food prep. Keep the thread going. It is very interesting.
