Very cool knife! I had to do some digging and only found two vids of how that mechanism works. I am still wondering what the actual mechanism that allows the blade release, and capture works. Anyhow, congrats on that beauty.

It's basically a lockback/picklock that locks closed as well as open, notches in the tang with a hook on the backspring. I actually peened the closed notch a smidge last night, it had a slightly proud tip...I was able to sink it safely below the liners and didn't have to sacrifice blade length by grinding the spine

Thanks, and kudos for your fix. These things caught my eye years ago, I have been very curious about them but never saw any pics or posts about them in my browsing. Again, that is a really cool knife.

Most of these Northwoods have thick stocks so they aren’t the sliciest knives but I really like this pattern and the character in the bone.
Of course Iris appreciated its service

I'm going to follow my Mom's advice to me when I was a kid going out in public and will only "speak when spoken to".

I have been following that advice also since I read so many people on the annual bladeforum knife thread saying, and I am paraphrasing, that there are so many trivial comments from people who do not contribute. But so many great knives and interesting posts that I feel compelled to join in.

Today the unloved 38 from GEC that I really like to go to town. Discreet but efficient, I like the grip it offers, practical for cutting in the plate, eating a fruit or cutting different small things in the daily life.

I've had the Taylor-Schrade canoe for several years, but I have so many canoes that most get posted only once or twice per year, so it's easy for the "casual observer" to miss one!

I do have one of those Gunboats my friend, it was a thoughtful gift from @scrteenedporch

Yes, that is both the lock release and the trigger...it's an auto.

I’m carrying my chestnut swayback jack today.

Also messing around in the garage making new handles for this one. Handles are made out of richlite, left over from the riding surface of the skate ramp.
