Most of us Queen people probably saw the writing on the wall long before they closed the doors. It just seems like every knife I bought from them had something wrong with it, so I just quit buying them. I had hopes when the Daniels family bought the business, but sadly you know the rest. Fortunately there are still many of the old Queen knives available.I have one of those Queen Workhorse Barlow Sheepfoot, a simple inexpensive knife that's well made. Too bad Queen was unable to keep its quality at acceptable levels at the end. These were nice useful workers.
That bridge is something else. Down in the bottom of that gorge is an old ghost town. I’ve never been to it and didn’t even know about it until a few years ago.Drove past a mining town named Wilkeson that was founded mid to late 1800's after a railroad was built to haul mined coal and sandstone. Coal was railed to Tacoma and converted to coke then shipped out to San Francisco foundries. (to make knives?)

Then hit the end of the road that was washed out.

That just about a perfect meal.
Thank you! Fishing was slow, hunting was better after the first day - got a doe for a buddy needing the meat. Saw one real nice buck but couldn't make a good shot so I passed. Maybe next trip. OHLove that whittler Bruce, those washboard covers are fantastic. How was the fishing?![]()
That’s a really nice bass.Great afternoon fishing with my Dad and son. I carried my Schrade 893.

We all caught fish. My Dad gets the award for the biggest.

It was a good one. He caught it on a spinning rod. He’s a trout fisherman and almost always fly fishes, but today for the bass he decided on a rubber worm instead. I was fly fishing, and when they started catching fish and I hadn’t seen any action, I switched to a casting rod. That’s a really nice bass.Did your dad catch it on a fly rod?
It really is, and so hard to convey through a photo how high it is. My wife and daughter wouldn't go near the edge to look down. Luckily the Swiss are used to heights. That bridge is something else. Wow that is really amazing of you!
I was thinking about donating a couple things aswell. But sadly where i live there aren’t a lot of museums that are dedicated to ww2… so for now i keep them displayed together with other war related items.
Thank you John, glad you like them!
The autumn winds are really kicking in this weekend up here!

Beautiful stag!
We ended up calling in at a Lebanese restaurant, and left stuffed to the gills, so the 'meatballs' were put on hold Dan, but I'm looking forward to trying them. I've had a couple of burgers I was very impressed byI think you might be pleasantly surprised Jack , the ones we tried yesterday were quite good actually. I am not sure if they match the "real" ones though![]()
Definitely mate, better than watching TV!Thank you, Jack.
There's something primal in all of us that like fires.
Many thanks JJ, it started out very dull, but turned into quite a pleasant dayThank you very much, Jack!!!
Three gems for your very cool history laden walk; I hope you were able to stay dry!![]()

It's great to see those two Swiss stalwarts again my friend
Wow John, what a feast! Cool pic
Böker makes a very decent knife and particularly admire those Washboard Bone scales- grippy and elegant. Their Whittler is just right. I had one in Green Washboard Bone but gave it away to a German member, he was delighted with it as for some crazy EU reason he couldn't buy German made Böker Traditionals in Germany. Pity Andi is no longer contributing, but life moves people on in different directions, there is a life outside knives tooBeen gone hunting and fishing the last week (tried to keep up when I had a signal, but 25 pages behind!!)
