I went to a favourite little art gallery to view some very dark Italian masterpieces today,I took my cadet with me.

On the way back I went to the market and bought my original design corp cap badge from the formation in WW2,A lovely vintage first class claw hammer and this absolutely massive Sheffield penknife.

Some history for those who maybe interested.

This is the cap badge of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, made of brass with a King’s crown and a wreath with initial letters R.E.M.E

• Prior to WWII, the repair of equipment in the army fell to the individual soldier and to the Ordnance Corps
• In the early years of WWII it soon became clear that the technical manpower needed to repair the enormous amount of equipment in each theatre of war was woefully lacking.
• The R.E.M.E was formed on 1st October 1942, it operated on the front line in every major theatre of operations, it was an indispensable combat corps

Best thing about the holidays is catching up with family.

That’s what I like best about Thanksgiving, it’s all about family, sadly they had to head back early.

I’m enjoying my new white owl also! Really handy little knife!

Zippo Mini Trapper arrived today and I was both surprised and pleased to see the build date on the box label is the same as my birthday this year !!!
