What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Gave these to FIL a couple Christmases years back. He's gone now, MIL found them going through his desk and returned them this Christmas. He was a machinist at Boeing and appreciated the tool steel. I scuffed the black handled one for better grip and added a lanyard, encouraged him to use it. He preferred the Case stag trapper I had given him before and they remained new.

Brrr!!! 🥶 And it’s not even January yet! 😉 We’re currently waiting to board our (delayed) flight at the Salt Lake City airport. I know it’s colder back in MN than it was when we left, but I haven’t been paying attention to snow while we’ve been gone, so I have no idea how much I’ll have to clear off the driveway when we (eventually) make it home. 😁

This may have been the first Christmas in decades that I didn't watch even a part of a Christmas movie! 😲 o_O
What movies were part of your Christmas viewing, Barrett?

Christmas movies are something I really enjoy. I make a list every year and cross them off as I watch ‘em. Some of my favorites are National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, Home Alone, Scrooged, Die Hard, It’s a Wonderful Life and A Christmas Story.

Wow, nice Texas Jack Paul, stay warm!
😎👍

That’s a pretty 62 Jim, snakewood and a leaf shield, nice combo. 😎👍
Thanks Todd, the Case Jack is a favorite of mine. We deal with the cold but never really get used to it ;) :)
Hey, thanks, Gus! You deserve a T Bird in Sea Foam Green. Have you mentioned it to your wife yet?

I hereby repent for any whining I may think of doing in the next two months!

Hope the knee is coming along, Paul.
Thanks Jeff, had a good report on my knee today and in addition to Physical Therapy I've reluctantly added snow shoveling:mad::confused:

After growing up on the Great Plains of Nebraska I moved

to SF with my beautiful bride. We raised two City kids who constantly want me to go to the Sierras to ski. I told them NO! I’d seen all of the snow I ever wanted to see and most of it was on the end of a shovel. Hope that your rehab goes well and do what my dad did when I moved away from home. Buy a snowblower! 😁

Looks great. I wish I could just make myself something that nice. 👍

Unbelievable — great find!!! 👍

Thank you. I got very lucky !!! ... Saw it early last week ago on a large auction site and bookmarked it, as bidding ended just this past Sunday evening and I didn't want to jump in a week early. I fully expected bidding would drive the price up to something I wasn't prepared to spend. While not the best stag I've seen, it's just about the best I've seen on the Schrade / Wostenholm series ... at least compared to others that are available. Much better than most.

With no thought of the knife, I took a long nap Sunday afternoon, awoke and got on the computer. After almost a week, I'd totally forgotten about this knife ... but then I saw the bookmark and clicked out of curiosity. The bidding was set to expire within 5-6 minutes !!! ... Perfect timing and there was not one single solitary bid on this knife !!! So I thought, you know, maybe this knife was meant to be mine. I was the one and only bidder. I bid the starting asking price, still fully expecting to be out bid at the very last second ... and lo and behold, got it for a "song". So paid for it immediately on Sunday evening and it was at my door, New York to Alabama, on Wednesday !!! Super duper fast shipping.

The knife sat virtually untouched for 40+yrs. Last night I rejuvenated the stag with some mineral oil ... which is still fully soaking in but just now took a picture anyway ... and I'll do minor preservation before deciding if I'll carry and use the knife or store it as well. No idea why it was perfectly timed for me to have this knife, like it was meant to be ... it just was I guess.

Hopefully the weather clears by tomorrow for your upcoming Market Day. 🤞

Super handy looking knife, I like the size and the blade. 🤠

Good Morning Porch Friends
Heading back home today after a very relaxing few days at the beach.

Nice pic Todd :)
Sowbelly stockman this week is a Rough Rider smooth tobacco bone model. (I like this photo because the sharp shadows almost make it look like an elusive 5-blade sowbelly, an example of which I haven't managed to acquire so far. 🤓 )

Regular stockman this week is a beautiful red jigged bone Böker I won in a GAW (thanks, Will):

What kind of nuts are in the bowl? I think they might be a type that has at least a couple of different names.
Thank you Gary, the nuts are some locally foraged Turkish Hazelnuts, that's the name I found for them :)
Toting some rosewood and ebony today. :)
Those two pair nicely my friend :)
